Living Shangri-La Construction Progress (September 2006)

Living Shangri-La is a skyscraper currently under construction in downtown Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, located at 1120 West Georgia Street. When completed in 2008, the structure will be the tallest building in Vancouver, surpassing the One Wall Centre, as a reported 197+ metres (61-storey) tower, although that distinction may be short lived, as an even taller building was recently approved by city hall.

As a mixed-use building, "Shangri-La" will contain a 5-star hotel and its offices on the first 15-floors, with condominiums occupying the rest of the building. The building will also include a spa, specialty grocery store, and a Vancouver Art Gallery public display. As part of the development deal, the Coastal Church, built in 1919 and located at the west end of the site, is undergoing a $4.4 million restoration.

[edit] Hotel

The Shangri-La Hotel Vancouver is to be a new full-service 5-star hotel that will be part of the building. It will be member of the Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts chain, and will be Shangri-La's first North American property. The hotel is planned to occupy the first 15 floors from ground level, and expected to include services such as restaurants, shoppes, and spa facilities.
