This is a category for all articles on currently living persons.

Purpose: Because living persons may suffer personal harm from inappropriate information, we should watch their articles carefully. This category exists to help Wikipedia editors improve the quality of biographies of living persons by ensuring that the articles maintain a neutral point of view, maintain factual accuracy, and are properly sourced.

Organization: This category should not be sub-categorised. Entries are generally sorted by family name. As of 10 February 2007, there are 162,304 articles in this category.

Expansion: For those with unknown death dates born after 1882, you might add Category:Year of death missing, or Category:Possibly living people.

Errata: For people who have died, please change the category to Category:Year of death missing or to the category for the approximate year of death. For disappeared people, there is Category:Disappeared people. For persons where no recent news is available Category:Possibly living people may be used.
