Liu Shing Ch'uan
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Liu Hsing Ch'uan is one of the Chinese martial arts. The name is translated as "Meteor Fist". Practitioners are known for their blows that could be described as "raining meteors." Meteor Fist is one of the internal styles taught in the Shaolin curriculum. It comes from Wu Tang (pronounced Wudan) Mountain Shaolin Temple.
Liu Hsing Ch'uan is considered a very advanced "internal" style within the Shaolin curriculum, which focuses both the Chi and muscles on a target. Because of this, Liu Hsing is considered even more explosive than Hsing I Ch'uan, which focuses only the Chi. Very little is known about Liu Hsing Ch'uan, because it is so rarely taught, but training includes punching into thick bands of rubber. Due to its explosiveness, Tai Chi Ch'uan, Pa Kua Chang (also spelled Baguazhang), and Hsing I Ch'uan are all needed prerequisites in order to use it properly.
