Acanthoclinus rua (Hardy, 1985) |
The little rockfish, Acanthoclinus rua, is a longfin of the family Plesiopidae, found only in New Zealand's subtidal zone and in rock pools at low tide. Their length is up to 11 cm.
The little rockfish's head and body are uniformly brown with a darker blotch on the operculum. The forehead has a pale stripe, and the dorsal and anal fins have orange tips.
It is distinguished from other rockfishes by its small size, undivided lower lateral line and the single pair of pores on the chin.
