Little Lever is a large village in the Metropolitan Borough of Bolton and in Greater Manchester in the north west of England. Historically part of Lancashire, it is situated 3 miles to the south east of the town of Bolton and has a population of 11,082.

Little Lever, since 1974, has been part of the Metropolitan Borough of Bolton, Greater Manchester, and is represented on the borough council by three councillors as part of a ward which also covers Darcy Lever. It is represented in the United Kingdom Parliament as part of the Bolton South East constituency and at the European Parliament as part of the North West England constituency.

There are seven schools in Little Lever: Bowness Community Primary, Masefield Community Primary, Mytham Community Primary, St Matthew's C of E Primary, St Teresa's RC Primary, Little Lever School, a secondary school which is a specialist language college and Ladywood School, a special needs school. Other facilities include pre-school playgroups, nursery schools and a library.

[edit] Sports and leisure

There is a purpose built leisure centre adjacent to Little Lever School with sports hall, gymnasium, squash courts, all-weather pitch and extensive playing fields. There are also facilities around the town for football, rounders, bowls and cricket. There are also a number of youth organisations, a youth club, an old age pensioners' club, and a Women's Institute branch. There are several public houses and political, sports and social clubs.

Little Lever is also on the edge of Moses Gate Country Park, a 750 acre park in the valleys of the River Croal and River Irwell. The three arms of the disused Manchester, Bolton and Bury Canal meet at Nob End at the south west corner of the town.

There are churches representing a number of religions in Little Lever: St Matthew's (Church of England), St Teresa's (Roman Catholic), Christ Church (Methodist and United Reformed), King's Church (Charismatic Fellowship) and Kingdom Hall (Jehovah's Witness). Parades are held on Whitsun and on Remembrance Sunday when a service is held at the war memorial at the library.
