[edit] Activities/clubs/societies
- Little Ilford School Fantasy Football League 2002-2003 -
The Project Manager and MPEAZ Officer (Carlos Lopes) were running the Fantasy Football at a subsidised rate of £1 Entry, It was highly successful and raised money for Charity. Their was not 2003-2004 season as their was no longer a subsidised rate and their was a very low uptake, so it was abandoned.
- Little Ilford School's Lan Party - This was after a school and sometimes during lunchtime activity run by the MPEAZ officer (Carlos Lopes).
It began in September 2001 and ended in the Summer of 2004, it was one of the most critically acclaimed clubs/activities in the School. There were 2 Activities Run simultaneously;
- The Weekly Events;
- Tuesday and Friday Lunchtimes (Formula 1 Racing Championship)
- Friday Afternoon (First Person Shooters - Counter Strike, Day of Defeat, Half Life and Team Fortress Classic)
The Formula 1 Racing was based on a Season long League; Qualifying and Race, Players would score for what position they came, at the end their was a trophy for 1st,2nd and 3rd.
The First Person Shooters also had a Tournament which was based on Counter Strike 2v2, The Winners would each get a Trophy. However The Main event was the informal playing on Friday Afternoons, which lasted from 2:55pm - 6pm and was at a cost of 50p to each player, roughly 16 players could play with a dedicated server. Run by Carlos Lopes
It was however being sent into decline after the academic year of 2002/2003 when the new Head Teacher Miss Powell announced that she wanted to put an end to the First Person Shooters. Rumours were in circa in May 2003 when the new Headteacher began to audit the School, The MPEAZ Officer was then given a confirmation that Lan Party was to be disbanded.A Petition was formed by the MPEAZ Officer and members of the Lan Party Group with references to sources online which support computer gaming for teenagers, as it encourages team building and a good way to relieve stress. However Ms Powell did not agree quoting them to be "too violent and encourage violence amongst students" she then put a ban into place, their was no special veto against Ms Powell Decision by the Govenors or by Senior Management, the only person that could help, finished her contract at the School Ms Whitehead the Projects Manager. The Lan Party Group respected her decision even though they did not agree. In 2003/2004 saw the end of Lan Party at Little Ilford School as the last season of Formula 1 Racing was run without the accompanying Counter Strike Tournamet and the Friday Afternoon Lan Party. The Games were then deleted off the system, and Lan Party was then formally terminated in September 2006 Some time later, a certain student managed to hack the pentagon using files he found on Kazaa and became the hero of the school and was worshipped for a fixed period of 3 weeks. He was voted Head Twat.
[edit] 2002/2003 Onwards
The Academic year of 2003/2004 saw the new head teacher Miss Yvonne Powell (herself a PE teacher) take over from Ms Belmour who had gone to take up another post She implemented GCSE after-school/weekend/school holiday classes to catch up on coursework and cover extra material. In her first academic year at school, she was very radical on tightening up on extra curricular activities, especially the LAN Party which had established itself as the most popular and well established club, former students, were bitterly disappointed at the news, the last participating year, was year 11 2003/2004 who were both active in lan party and the respective tournaments. However a reprisal has occurred out of school of Lan Party, however not affiliated officially with the School Lan Party.
Her second year saw her improving the School's image of being a runned down school to being a School on-par with the best of the schools in Newham.
She also relaxed her grip on the extra curricular activities, although no reprisal of Lan Party. A School Radio Station has emerged from January 2006 with the help of the Media Studies Department. The School has undergone a major reform of the student democratic process. A Student Council was then put into place by James Herbert from July 2006 onwards with 2 Head Students, and J. Herbert continues to co-ordinate the school council. The voting process takes place via the School's Intranet Voting Page, designed and implemented by Carlos Lopes. The Student council is responsible for putting students view forward and taking appropriate action.
