Lithuanian National Union

The Lithuanian National Union (Lith. Lietuvių tautininkų sąjunga) is a political party of Lithuania, founded in 1924.
The Lithuanian National Union was the ruling party of Lithuania in December 1926 - June 1940, when the leader of this party Antanas Smetona was the President of Lithuania. During the period of Soviet occupation it was prohibited in Lithuania. The Lithuanian National Union was re-established in 1989.
In the elections of the Seimas (Parliament of Lithuania) of 1992 the Lithuanian National Union won 4 places, in 1996 - 3 places. Since 2000 it has no representatives in the Seimas. The number of represantatives in the regional municipalities is also deminishing: the party won 49 mandates in 1995, 23 - in 1997, 13 - in 2000, 14 - in 2002 and 3 in 2007 elections.
