Litang County

Litang (Tibetan in Wylie transliteration: li thang; Chinese: 理塘, Pinyin: Lǐtáng) is a county in the southwest of the Garzê Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in Sichuan Province of China. It is located at an altitute of 4014 metres and in 2001 had a population of 47,500. Several famous Buddhist figures were born here, including the 7th Dalai Lama and the 5th Jamyang Xêba of Labrang.
