[edit] Why this template exists

I made this template because I noticed that many lists have this text (or something similar) at the top, and I wanted to remove the meta-level comments from the articles. According to Wikipedia:Lists (stand-alone lists), it is disputed whether this type of information should be included in lists. I thought this template would be useful, whether for standardizing the wording or eliminating the text altogether. Wmahan. 23:43, 2004 Sep 6 (UTC)

Excellent idea! However, I'd suggest that the wording be changed to make the numerous self-references a little less blatant. There'll have to be some self-referencing, but that's okay. Just minimize it to make it more reader-friendly, please. • Benc • 21:25, 14 Sep 2004 (UTC)
