The template now uses a new, stubby version of one of a handful of templates that should obviate the clumsy tho valuable scheme illustrated in the preceding section.
- The overall function of

- is to link to all the pages for names that begin with the 3 letters "Dan".

- The arg "name" directs linking to a page dedicated to people for whom "Dan" is not just the beginning of a longer name (like Dangerfield or Danson), but a whole name (including the first name of a "tandem" surname composed of multiple distinct names, as in Terry Dan-Smith). (Such a page of course excludes people generally identified by their surname and given name together, with "Dan" as the given name.)
- The arg "i" indicates a link to a page dedicated to names beginning "Dani".
- The remaining names among those beginning with something from Dana thru Danz are implicitly included, via links to two pages for those before and those after the Dani names respectively.
