Talk:List of video games: A-C
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Disgusting that Pong wasn't on the list. -- user:zanimum
- I was astonished myself! We have really random connectivity for computer/video game articles; I went though links to video game and computer game to try to locate the overlooked articles, probably saw the Pong link and assumed it was in here already. Category tags would really really be helpful... Stan 16:55, 16 Feb 2004 (UTC)

- Quite a few arcade games aren't there, such as Bubble Bobble, Cabal, Final Fight, for example. I'm current making a list of arcade games, at List of arcade games, which includes some of these games. It might be worth checking to see whether any have been missed on one or other of the lists. [edit] Rule, The, A
I think we should have a rule where games go to that start with The or A. Currently it's mixed. -- Lightkey 14:33, 22 Nov 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Yeaaaaaahhhhh
I saw in the area were they discuss deleting articles that someone posted that "encyclopedias don't have stupid lists" and I really needed to rant on this, but I couldn't find how their, so I will here. Wikipedia is an online encyclopedia, it features many things that a normal encyclopedia wouldn't include, like alternate languages, discussion pages, non-standered articles, member changes, stubs, cross-reference links..., for convenience and functionality. Lists are just another one of these things, so basically, think about what you?re saying before for saying things like that, thank you.
[edit] Stealth Fighter Games
Wasn't there both an F-19 Stealth Fighter (from 88) AND an F-117 Stealth Fighter sequel (from 91?), both by Microprose? I know that both existed (I had both) but I can't remember the correct title of the second one.Kurohone 06:24, 23 Apr 2004 (UTC)
Yep. The second one is 'F-117 Stealth Fighter'. There was also a sequel/later version called 'Night Hawk: F-117A Stealth Fighter 2.0'. Tkrajcar 19:58, 23 Apr 2004 (UTC)
[edit] should this list be replaced ?
while i feel that this list should be replaced by the superior categorization system, i think it could still be usefull to have such a list. It's a very comfortable way to create a lot of stubs (for not yet described games) to articles someone could write later. It would be very helpful if also company, year and genre would appear in this lis t--Horst_F_JENS 15:47, 2004 Jun 18 (UTC)
i think it should also be replaced with categorys then listed alphabetically Jeremybub 23:10, 18 May 2005 (UTC)
- "This list can be superseded by categories just as soon as all the articles are written" :-) Categories can only tell you what articles exist already, not which ones are needed, so I think this list is going to be around for a long time. As you say, additional info for each game makes this a more useful reference than a category's list. Stan 16:13, 18 Jun 2004 (UTC)
[edit] BM
What's wrong with this page?!? It has the worst formatting imagineable and looks like some great HTML bowel movement. Can someone suggest a better format? One idea I have is to have something like this:
==0 - 9==
1942 series | 3D Monster Maze | 4 D Sports Driving | 688 Attack Sub | 7th Guest series
But this is just an idea. Anymore? — Frecklefoot | Talk 14:49, Sep 20, 2004 (UTC)
Well, I don't know about going sideways, but I also think there should be only one section in horizontal. Maybe like it is now, with three vertical threads, but for only one section instead of three? -- Lightkey 14:33, 22 Nov 2004 (UTC)
Also, what's going on with the sporadic use of italics? - LiquidXY 14:12, 30 Nov 2004 (UTC)
I've removed the italics myself, it's a start.... LiquidXY 14:39, 7 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- I personally think that all computer and video game titles should be italicized. There is nothing in the Manual of Style regarding game titles specifically, but it seems to make sense. Since video games garner more than Hollywood movies these days, it makes sense that since movie titles are italicized, so should video game titles. Anyways, I always italicize game titles I write articles on. :-) — Frecklefoot | Talk 16:59, Dec 7, 2004 (UTC)
[edit] 3D Monster Maze
Saw 3D Monster Maze on the list without an article written for it when browsing around for something else (came here from the Flightgear article.) Nostalgic feelings made me write it. Enjoy! BACbKA 01:11, 26 Oct 2004 (UTC)
[edit] new category: computer and video games by name
i feel in a productive mood and added a new category Category:Computer and video games by name. I also added some lines on the beginning of this list begging wikipedians to fill the new category with entrys. In the end, i hope we will have an ultimate, self-updating category list (computer games by name) like the site moby games. On the other hand, we will have this list to create some stubs on the fly and point to work still not done.--Horst_F_JENS 08:53, 2005 Apr 3 (UTC)
[edit] Breaking up this article
This article is absolutely ridiculous. I'm proposing we break the article up into multiple articles so that its easier to read, edit, and maintain.
- List of computer and video games: A-D
- List of computer and video games: E-I
- List of computer and video games: J-R
- List of computer and video games: S-Z
or some variation of this. K1Bond007 05:41, Apr 18, 2005 (UTC)
- I think we should simply delete this article. --minghong 06:48, 25 Jun 2005 (UTC)
-
- Perhaps. The person who created the article in October 2003 (Stan Shebs) is still active on Wikipedia, although hasn't modified this list in a while. Looking at the history of the page shows that there are a few people who make quite a bit of contributions to the page. I'm not sure what the best way to deal with this page is. --TheDotGamer Talk June 30, 2005 20:21 (UTC)
- Why delete? There are other similar lists on Wikipedia of this nature such as film. My option that I listed above is actually a takeoff of how they do that. See. List of films: A-D, List of films: E-I, List of films: J-R, and List of films: S-Z. K1Bond007 June 30, 2005 20:40 (UTC)
- You're right. I forgot about how other topics are broken up by name. If and when we break this article up however, the article titles should probably be: List of computer and video games: A-D... or something more similar to how other categories are broken up. --TheDotGamer Talk June 30, 2005 21:01 (UTC)
- Point taken. I think the article should be broken up relatively soon. It's really horrible to edit and look up titles in its present form. K1Bond007 June 30, 2005 21:19 (UTC)

It should have been left as a single-column list, because some names are long, and the remainder of each line is available for notes such as maker, date, special notability (1st shooter etc). The index can also be made more visually interesting by adding screenshots or cover art on the right side, as is done with many other lists. Breaking up by alphabet is common, dunno if this list is long enough to justify it yet. Stan 1 July 2005 04:29 (UTC)
- Yeah, I just changed it back to the single-column list. I don't know who changed it in the first place. Regardless the page is at 51KB and probably should be broken up. Makes it easier to manage as well as expand too. K1Bond007 July 1, 2005 04:45 (UTC)
- I am about to (finally) break this page up, here's the way I was planning to make the divisions: A-C (includes numbers), D-H, I-O, P-S and T-Z (using name conventions as suggested above). I chose these by splitting up the list of games in to relatively equal chunks, based on the amount of games per letter in the current list. I was also planning to remove the note about excluding puzzle games, since it doesn't make much sense to me. Assuming there's no objections, I'm going to go ahead with this shortly. My one question, however, is whether to move this page (with talk page) to the new A-C page, or to make all new pages and have this page serve some other purpose? ADeveria 19:01, 11 August 2005 (UTC)
- I have no objections to this. I propose that you move this page to A-C first (just so the page history goes somewhere) then change this article to a redirect to List of computer and video games. Similar style to Lists of films. K1Bond007 19:30, August 11, 2005 (UTC)
- Operation...complete! Hope I didn't mess anything up. ADeveria 16:07, 12 August 2005 (UTC)
