[edit] List of all islands?

Aren't most islands uninhabited? Won't this just end up being a list of all islands, excluding the 10% or whatever that are inhabited? -- sjorford 09:40, 11 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Not only that, but who is going to monitor moving company records so as to make sure this list continues to be correct? Stan 16:01, 21 Jan 2005 (UTC)
Hmm... perhaps we could have a list of the largest 1,000 or so uninhabited islands? I'm not sure where we could find a good source, though...--Pharos 13:32, 21 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Governors Island

I was going to add Governors Island, but then there is a caretaker. Anybody want to make a list of islands with one inhabitant? Probably more limited and more interesting :)--Pharos 15:12, 2 Feb 2005 (UTC)

There is a List of places with fewer than ten people, if you'd like to include it there. Is it a city on its own, or just part of a city, ...? --Idont Havaname 03:32, 15 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Actually, it's part of New York City, formerly an Army and Coast Guard base (see its page).--Pharos 03:40, 15 Mar 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Blasket Islands

Would the Blasket Islands qualify? [1] In 1916 the population was 176. It was home to several writers. Sadly, the Blasket Island community declined as a result of the persistent emigration, until eventually the Island was abandoned in 1953 when only 22 inhabitants remained. But, now there are holiday homes there. So is has a vaciationing population in the summer, but no regular inhabitants. --ClemMcGann 10:33, 23 Mar 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Move to List of uninhabited islands

What about moving this to List of uninhabited islands? It's considerably less awkward, and "habitation" really generally means human habitation.--Pharos 20:53, 6 Mar 2005 (UTC)

It's a better title, but I still don't like the list. sjorford →•← 22:58, 6 Mar 2005 (UTC)

OK, I moved to the new title.--Pharos 08:33, 12 Mar 2005 (UTC)

[edit] No Man's Land

Should I add it? Does anyone live there? I have heard it is a Naval target range, similar to Kahoolawe(sp?) in Hawaii. It is about 5 mi. (8 km) South of Gay Head, off Martha's Vinyard, Massachusetts. MapQuest shows it, but most printed maps do not. I guess so people don't go looking for it. 65.107.194.194 18:21, 9 November 2005 (UTC)

Yes, it appears to be uninhabited. (The article for it is at Nomans Land (Massachusetts).) I'll go ahead and add it. Thanks for reminding us about it! --Idont Havaname 19:37, 9 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Svínoy

I removed the Faroese island of Svínoy since it's inhabitated. If the reference is to another island called Svínoy, then you can put it back in. Mulder1982 14:10, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Canada

I think this one is inhabited. There's even a Tussaud's. I was there once. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 75.60.187.160 (talk) 08:01, 15 January 2007 (UTC).

Could someone sort this into a list of unhabited islands by size TeePee-20.7 08:07, 17 March 2007 (UTC)
