[edit] Single Cards
I think we can get rid of certain sections such as Aboroth, Aesthir, Avizoa, Barishi, and Dandan. These creatures don't really have anything special about them, and are mostly just one card as opposed to a whole race. We should stick with sentient species that recur in the Magic storylines. If we gave every single creature in Magic its own section, this article will get huge. If anyone disagrees, however, I would like to hear your opinions on the matter. John 23:31, 12 March 2006 (UTC)
The single-card species should be removed, I agree. About the Broodstar thing; since it's a card, and not a species, it doesn't belong on this page. VDZ
Not having read the novels, I can't say for sure whether or not the single-card species should be removed. I'd think that it should be judged based on both their storyline significance as well as their prevalence on cards. Cheesewizard 22:39, 24 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Creature Types
I was under the impression that this article is only for "creature types found in Magic: The Gathering" (as it says at the top of the article). Cytoplast is not a creature type that appears in Magic: The Gathering. The creatures that have "cytoplasts" on them all have creature type "Mutant" (usually in addition to other things. The same can be said of Indrik. Not only is there only one card with "Indrik" in it's name -- it's creature type is also Beast -- which does not appear on the list. Nim is another example of this. While there are a series of creatures with the "Nim" prefix in Mirrodin block, they all posess a creature type of "Zombie". I feel that Cytoplast, Indrik, and Nim sections should all be removed from the article. -- Tahngarth
While I agree Indrik is not prevalent enough to warrant a section, Nim and Cytoplasts are. The article is called creatures of Magic, not creature 'types'. If Nim is to be removed, so is Nezumi, Jhovall, Anurid, Aven, and numerous others.
First of all, Cytoplasts are not even a creature in the magic novels. Cytoplasts are an invention of Momir Vig that enhance the abilities of creatures. And, if the article is meant for creatures of Magic, and no creature types, the first line of the article should be changed, no? It currently reads "This article is a compilation of creature types found in the collectible card game, Magic: The Gathering.". Yeah, creature TYPES. I'll edit it, because that is misleading. -- Tahngarth.
[edit] Kor?
Any information available on the Kor from the Rath Cycle? --SparqMan 17:37, 21 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] This article needs root and branch rewriting
This article needs a significant re-write - It's in-universe, it's list cruft, it makes no sense at all to a general reader. look at one of the first sentences -
Mistform Ultimus is a Legendary creature from Legions (What's legions?), and reprinted as a timeshifted (What's time shifted?) card in Time Spiral (What's time spiral?), that has every creature type (what's a creature type?) ever printed in Magic.
Wikipedia is a general readers encyclopedia not a guide for hardcore fans. --Charlesknight 23:44, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] What is the purpose of this aritcle?
So we can start working on improving this article we need to first answer the question: what is the purpose of this article. Why are we bothing to collect a list of fictional races? This doesn't even seem to be a list of cards in the game. Who is going to use this, for what, and how do we verify the data? RJFJR 16:57, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Slivers as seperate article
How about creating a main article for the Slivers, and only give a small description of Slivers on this page? It would make sense, as there's quite a lot of information about the slivers.VDZ 08:50, 13 December 2006 (UTC)
Yay slivers. It's an idea. A lot of the stuff in that section is unnecessary, but slivers rock and a new page would be able to keep that stuff and more. - Deadbraincell 02:46, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
I also think it would be a good idea to make slivers a separate article. Also would it be a good idea to update the secton on Freyalise's success, or lack there of, from Planar Chaos. Also even though it is mentioned on a card I don't think Venser has exerted any control yet, so thats an issue of books VS cards. - Bakuhatsusama 01:27, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Indrik
A revision to this section by 68.58.238.179 led me to research this beast. Turns out that the art really meshes well with depictions of indricotherium and doesn't fit with descriptions of the mythical Indrik at all. Although Russia's proximity to Eastern Europe makes me inclined to believe the myth may have been picked up by Wizards, the facts seem to weigh in favor of the indricotherium. I will change it soon unless I receive more information. Shadowin 15:52, 9 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Art
Who else thinks there should be a card linked to every applicable section? - Deadbraincell 02:46, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
I agree that some of the more major, abnormal, species such as Slivers, Saprolings and Thrulls should have a link to the card and/or art of atleast one example of the species. - Bakuhatsusama 01:30, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Notability
OK wow this article has 5 tags on it. I would say that most of the sources are covered by the cards. Yeah there is more from other web sites and books, but... - Deadbraincell 19:59, 28 February 2007 (UTC)
