Lyric references

We should rename this article to list of songs that talk about or reference masturbation since some songs on the list only have analogus similarities to masturbation. And we should also denote that the songs reference masturbation. --SuperDude 00:21, 22 May 2005 (UTC)

Yes, I say split the songs into 2 sections:

  1. Top: Songs believed or rumored to primarily focus on the topic of masturbation: "Whip It", "I Touch Myself", anything with "Rose" or "Rosie" in the title, etc.
  2. Bottom: Songs whose lyrics contain references to masturbation...:
Eminem – "The Real Slim Shady":
...pinching nurses' asses while i'm jackin' off with Jergen's
Green Day – "Longview":
...when masturbation's lost its fun you're fucking lonely...
...but which, taken as a whole, are about something else.

Granted, a lot of these songs I've never heard, so I only gave, as examples, ones that I was very familiar with. If I knew more about the songs listed I'd sort them myself.

Think of it as Side A and Side B of somebody's next mix tape. — FREAK OF NURxTURE (TALK) 05:41, Jun 24, 2005 (UTC)

Another Brick in the Wall

Vandalism

This is the easiest page to vandalize I've ever seen. T.N.T. and Thunderstruck by AC/DC and Rocket Man by Elton John and Another Brick in the Wall by Pink Floyd. The real Slim Shady by Eminem... If you hate an artist just put some huge song by them on this page and giggle. Please do something about this page, as for me I'm gonna take off some more songs that shouldn't be there. I'm also gonna add this to watchlist Redwolf24 22:36, 23 Jun 2005 (UTC)

  • Listen up, I've added lots of songs to this list, and I kinda detected some references, metaphors, and songs talking about what to do because of motivation of masturbation.

Reason for ABITW by Pink Floyd is because the lyric "Hey, leave those kids alone" could mean that the guy masturbates to minors. Also, the name could imply that a condom has no holes in it.

Thunder struck was added because masturbating can be as rough as thunder (metaphorically)

TNT was added because the phrase "gotta explode" can refer to semen breaking out.

Ice Ice Baby was added to it because basically an erection can be as stiff as ice.

Now doya get the point why those songs were added in the first place. Noone has any motive for vandalism on the page, people just find metaphoric lyrics in songs and those lyrics could reference mastrubation. --SuperDude 07:08, 24 Jun 2005 (UTC)

I think we need to limit this to songs which are clearly "about" masturbationg (as it says in the title) and not just ones that "have some lyrics that could be construed as vaguely referencing something to do with masturbation if you really try hard". --Dante Alighieri | Talk 20:16, Jun 24, 2005 (UTC)
Oh metaphors. I agree with Dante. Also notice it says songs ABOUT masturbation. Look, if you wanted to you could connect ANYTHING to something sexual. Masturbation as rough as thunder? Why dont we put songs about bikes on the list because of that joke with women taking off bicycle seats. Redwolf24 (Talk) 21:42, Jun 24, 2005 (UTC)
Also on the leave those kids alone... if you're gonna make that sexual it would be more like he hits on the kids or molests but thats it. Plus David Gilmour and the others had no sick intent like that. I believe this is vandalism. Plus read the title, Songs ABOUT vandalism, not songs with amazingly unlikely double entendres. Shock the monkey

Isn't this about animal testing? It's "shock" the monkey, not "spank". --Dante Alighieri | Talk 20:20, Jun 24, 2005 (UTC)

Turning Japanese

I saw this song was removed. Please leave it there as it's definately ABOUT masturbation, not just 1 reference. Redwolf24 28 June 2005 19:06 (UTC)

  • On VH-1's "True Spin", the Vapors said it DOESN'T refer to masturbation. It's about a breakup and how the individual "loses themself" and turns into somebody else. That explanation is a good case of turning Japanese.67.100.216.14 01:30, 19 July 2005 (UTC)

Where's Your Head At?

Why would somebody remove the song WYHA? The phrase "your head" could refer to the end of the penis, and saying "Where your head at" (penis head) could refer to sparking a masturbate. --SuperDude 29 June 2005 02:35 (UTC)

Epic

An IP address added Epic by Faith No More to the list. Someone explain that one. As for now I'm taking it off. Redwolf24 7 July 2005 03:43 (UTC)

Sadly, I'm not a member, but I have a little info on Epic. No definitive answer on it's meaning has been given, but masterbation is one of the most common beliefs. I think it's best left in, since it certainly is one of the most plausable explanations. Anon 19 July 2005 15:16 (GMT)

Appear to be?

I've removed some of the songs from this list. If they are to be included then I think we will have to change the title from songs that "appear to be about masturbation" to songs that "a student of deconstruction might interpret to be about masturbation".

"Drop it like it's hot" and "Dragostea Din Tei"???

Excuse me? I'm removing both of them until someone can justify them being there. --Bash 01:43, 10 July 2005 (UTC)

Dragostea Din Tei is definately NOT. Drop it like it's hot I wouldn't know as I don't care about rap. Redwolf24 01:45, 10 July 2005 (UTC)

"Beat on the Brat"

Exactly how do the lyrics "Beat on the brat with a baseball bat" imply masturbation? Kurt Shaped Box 09:47, 16 July 2005 (UTC)

  • Well, Botbwabb implies mastubation since the brat is the shlong; and baseball bat can imply the tool to wravel it with. --SuperDude 03:16, 24 July 2005 (UTC)

Let's Get grip here, folks!!

This list is out of control. There are lots of songs here that are just not about masturbation, except in the ear of the beholder. "Get Into The Groove" by Madonna isn't about masturbation, except to 14yo boys who don't listen. Also "Beat It" by Micheal Jackson (I removed it). I suggest we cut this list back to those songs that are INTENTIONALLY about masturbation as written by their lyricists, not just those CONSTRUED to be about it by those with over-fertile imaginations. On that score, both of the ones mentioned above - Beat On the Brat and WYHA - have got to go. This is not the first time this has been brought up, but if the page is to have any worth, then lets get a grip on it (pun intended by the way) and fix it before it is just a depository for smutty schoolboy humour. He said "groove" huh-huh-huh-huh-huh.... Graham 05:44, 25 July 2005 (UTC)

Happiness is a Warm Gun

The first part is rather oblique, but there are a few references: "touch of a velvet hand", "lying with his eyes while his hands are busy working overtime". Why does "needing a fix" have anything to do with "mother superior jumping the gun" unless it's about a guy fantasising getting it on with nuns to cheer himself up? Anyway things get pretty explicit in the end with the chorus, which equates gun handling with a state of security and bliss. The "Bang bang shoot shoot" is playful enough to signal that this is not real violence, but rather a person having fun with himself.

Many of these songs don't belong

A lot of these songs are just about fantasy, longing, et cetera (e.g. Paulina by No Doubt). If there's not something explicit that indicates that the song's about masturbation, it shouldn't be included. Moreover, I don't think that the mere fact of a song referring to masturbation means that it belongs on a list of songs about masturbation. Morgenstraße 16:52, 9 August 2005 (UTC)

Unencyclopedic

Removed the line: Please do not include those you think might be about masturbation unless you can back it up with a respectable reference. It should not belong in the main page of the article, through an admonition should be posted on the header of the talk page and in a hidden comment within the edit text
