Talk:List of people of Generation Y

Its nice that someone took the time to organize this page off the Generation Y page Ivymike21 15:37, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

It is. However, and it's just an opinion, but Dakota Fanning has always seemed to me to be the poster child for the New Silent Generation. I'd suggest that at least she and perhaps everybody from 1994 on be moved to a list of people from that generation. Strauss and Howe characterized adaptive generations as having had unusually smothering parenting, and they point out that the character of 'Little Lord Fauntleroy' was a stereotype of an adaptive generation similar to the New Silent. These generations are supposed to have 'the gift of gab', and the cite Oscar Wilde among others as examples. It seems to me that Fanning always plays prematurely articulate characters. Anyway, consider it. Rbedford 10:25, August 9, 2006 (EST)

I'm a little curious as to why we're including people born 1997 and after in this list, since most of them are not even cultural contributors or anything, and also because there's still debate to where Generation Y ends. Everyone born 1996 and earlier I think is safe to include, but I think we're jumping the gun a little bit on the years after that. Please state agree if you think we should remove those born after 1997, and disagree if you think they should stay. 131.156.238.75 21:25, 9 October 2006 (UTC)

A little redundant to have "b. 19xx" after every name in the "19xx" headings, no? Maybe change the headings to "Born 19xx"... And I agree that post-1997 should be removed. Inarcadiaego 05:30, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

Having this listing of prominent figures of Generation Y coexisting with the other listing of the same objects is, fundamentally, in violation of the concise nature of information Wikipedia wishes to exhibit. Even with the supposed inaccuracy of these lists notwithstanding, they ought to be merged first for the sake of the project, then edited and refined second. That being said, I agree that 1997 should be removed. .Absolution. 15:01, 5 January 2007. (EST)
