[edit] Merging

Regarding merging from Lake Mills -- this does not seem like a very sensible idea. I can see perhaps merging persons named something Mills (e.g., Bob Mills) because persons are often referenced by last name, but Lake Mills is a place name that is rather unlikely to be referred to as simply Mills. olderwiser 22:24, 12 October 2005 (UTC)

regarding the merger from Robert Mills (disambiguation), doesn't seem wise - if someone searches from Robert Mills, that's where they ought to end up, not here - to avoid duplication, this page could just link to that page instead of to the individual Robert Mills entries. In fact, that seems so sensible I'm going to just do it - I'm also going to change the merge tag to disputed - feel free to discuss here Tedernst 04:53, 13 November 2005 (UTC)

Agreed. Merging Robert Mills (disambiguation) to here doesn't make sense. However, the entries on that page should be placed here instead of the link to the disambiguation page. There is no reason why both pages cannot have them and it avoids the link to the disambiguation page. Given that this has been tagged since October and the only discussion has been a disagreement, I've going to go ahead and pull the merger tags and make the edits. -- JLaTondre 21:32, 30 December 2005 (UTC)
Same goes with David Mills & John Mills (disambiguation). -- JLaTondre 23:42, 30 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Size

I've gone through and added all the Mills I could find who weren't previously listed. This has made for a pretty long list. I'm wondering about the usefulness of a disambig page that is so long. -- JLaTondre 23:42, 30 December 2005 (UTC)

The same problem of length arises with Evans. There the solution is to use Evans to direct people to a separate List of people named Evans, if they are looking for a person named Evans. Could we not use the same structure here? That is, move the long list of people named Mills to a new article List of people named Mills and have an early sentence in Mills along the lines of "Mills is a common family name and Mills may refer to a particular person with that family name - see the list of people named Mills." I have now done what I suggested last week. Fibula 18:03, 16 September 2006 (UTC)
