[edit] Requirements for Adding somebody to this list

For the sake of keeping this list restricted to legitimate information, I must set the following requirement, one of two things are required: either a couple words that explain what makes that person noteworthly or a link to a page that explains a person's noteworthyness.

If such an entry doesn't contain the required information then the entry is not worthy of being on this list and hence forth will be removed. I am setting this strict requirement because if unexplained entries are provided, this list will easily be filled with non-informative entries. Please note I will be extremely open minded into accepting many reasons why this person is noteworthy (ex: artists, musicians, authors, company presidents, researchers who have discovered something). But it should be decided in the future exactly what constitutes as the minimum to what makes a person "noteworthy". People who have not contributed to society in some form are currently NOT considered noteworthy. Travisowens@hotmail.com 21:57, 16 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Shirley Jackson

When did Shirley Jackson live in Rochester? According to her article, she was born and raised in California, educated at Syracuse University, and lived in Vermont as an adult. MK2 05:13, 9 October 2005 (UTC)

Reply: I have removed her from this list since you brought this issue up almost 5 months ago and nobody has attempted to refute it. Travisowens@hotmail.com 21:59, 16 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Comment from 63.118.56.110

Looking at the history of this section, it seems there is no rhyme or reason as to what is considered noteworthy. I guess that is the nature of the beast that is Wiki. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 63.118.56.110 (talkcontribs) .

Roughly, if they have an article on Wikipedia, they're considered noteworthy. There are a few exceptions (namely, Henry Lomb) who should have articles but don't yet. Powers 18:41, 13 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Request for Comment

A page similar to this one. List of people from San Francisco, is currently under review as an article for deletion, for reasons which would apply to this article as well. I am conducting an RfC on the talk page of the above-mentioned list to determine whether the concensus agrees on keeping such lists or not. Any and all comments are more than welcome. I think the SF article is up for deletion just because it's poor quality, not because the topic isn't wikipedia worthy...see how it's big on baseball players? At least the Rochester article is fairly broad in who's on it. I vote to keep the Rochester article unless the question is raised on more cities. Arwcheek 01:06, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
