Bill Brach - Photographer - From The Dead Book by Hank Harrison: "Brach is one of the most brilliant photographers to emerge from the Haight-Ashbury experience. The so called Matrix wall photographs taken by Herb Greene were actually shot in Bill's house. Brach was without question the best early photographer in the Haight. His eye is uncanny and his sociological sense is precocious. He achieved most of his shots with a minimum of equipment. His eye is closer to Avedon than any of the others and yet his contribution has been overlooked possibily because he continued at San Francisco State instead of dropping out."
The Anchor Steam Brewery recently bought and is displaying 4 of his early prints. They are photos of Big Brother and the Holding Company taken in the summer of 1966 just after Janis Joplin joined the band and were shot in the old Anchor Steam brewery.
