[edit] History

1933: [1] [2] - doesn't look like any of the numbers match the present ones. Same in 1938, 1946, 1954. Apparently the renumbering was in 1955. 1961 has the current system. The highest number I see (on the small portion shown) is 177; there's definitely some clustering. --SPUI (T - C - RFC) 23:32, 4 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] 3xxx routes assigned to freeways or other high-speed roads

They seem to just be assigned in order of needing a number.

[edit] Grid and clustering

[3] - "all routes lower than 1241, except 191, date to the 1955 renumbering" and some more history

There's definitely a grid going on with the low numbers:

  • 1 (diagonal) 3-5-7-9-13-15-17-19-21-23 (25 is off) - higher numbers from 27 to 35 go roughly across again but not as well
  • 2-4-6-8-10-12-14
    • 16-18-20
      • 22-24 - no clear pattern after this, but 26 to 34 fill in other main east-west routes - THERE IS NO LA 32!

Most stuff from 36 to 185 follows the clustering. The following routes don't:

  • Louisiana Highway 72 - way out of place in Shreveport
  • Louisiana Highway 141 - way out of place near Carville
  • Louisiana Highway 158 - somewhat out of place in Colfax
  • Louisiana Highway 166 is missing
  • Louisiana Highway 176 - way out of place in Lafayette
  • Louisiana Highway 179 is missing

176, then 178 and on seem to jump around a lot. 177-180-181-184 roughly stay in the clustering, though all but 177 are in already-covered areas, and 176-178-182-183-185 are all over the place. Thus the original clustering may have ended at 177, with 176 skipped (or later reassigned?). --SPUI (T - C - RFC) 13:14, 8 May 2006 (UTC)

This state's highway naming convention is up for debate above. Feel free to participate. --Rschen7754 (talk - contribs) 05:46, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Louisiana svg shields

I have created a few shields, any feedback is appreciated. --Holderca1 02:20, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
