- The French may have their own article on profanity in the French language and other words that are obscene or vulgar to them. In France, any names, slurs, words and phrases connected or refers negatively to sexuality are held profane. On the other hand, the 21st century French are more at ease about sex than in America, but there are etiquette and morality on where's the place to casually discuss sex like anywhere). Other bad words about excrement, death or disease (similar to the Dutch), blasphemy, religion and racial/ethnic hatred are in the category in modern French, especially French laws passed in the 1990's concerning "hate speech" on words and "negative public comments" about race/color, ethnicity, immigrants, homosexuals and women (sexism and misogyny) are illegal. The French insist on this unacceptable of not only racist and intolerant words, as well to limit fair debates on "taboo" issues like racism, anti-Semitism, Islam in France, illegal immigration and multiculturalism, have to do with courtesy not legality. The French republic government declared the French people aren't an "ethnicity" and must accept or integrate everyone regardless of their faith and national origin. I noticed the "totally profane" French expression "Va te faire foutre" is translated as "Go to hell". This is incorrect. The phrase is much more accurately translated as "Go fuck yourself" as foutre is translated as the verb "fuck" and the phrase itself is reflexive.

Why is there a weak explanation saying there is no Arabic profanity? Someone should include Arabic in this.

0. Similar page should exist in Victionary, but the use of profanities is the phenomenon of our world, which should be described in Wikipedia.
1. The current version underestimate the rhichmess of the vulgar Russian. It uses 10 roots, not only 4. (manda, her, gandon, molofia, zalupa) seem to be missed, but this issue should be addresed to russian mat, which is underrepresented. dima 11:36, 26 February 2007 (UTC)
