[edit] Paramaters
It is absurd to limit a "list of debaters" to non-American parliamentary-style debate. At the very least, the article ought to be renamed to "list of successful international parliamentary debaters." Isamuel
- There are plenty of American debaters on this list, and the list is not restricted to parliamentary style, but notability is restricted to those with international accomplishments. This does seem to produce fewer notable American debaters, but that's not unreasonable. Fenster 22:00, 14 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] National or International ?
This listing has a few inconsistencies:
The title advertises a List of Debaters; if it is to be restricted in scope, a better title would be List of International Debating Laureates.
The first paragraph makes it clear that only debaters who have won international competitions should be listed. However, the second paragraph talks of laureates of international and recognized national competitions. This is a broader scope than the limitative first paragraph.
As a result, a variety of entries reflect international competitions while others reflect national competitions. It would make sense for the list to be divided into laureates of international competitions, and laureates of national competitions. JohnnyMnemonic 06:13, 27 September 2006 (UTC)
- I have amended the opening section to remove all mention of national competitions. (It was left over from when the page was still fairly recently-created, before it was realized that the list was getting too long and national-level achiements should therefore be listed on separate pages such as the List of Canadian debaters.) I think the page title is fine. Links to national lists can be put in the 'See also' section at the bottom of the page so people looking for info from a particular country can still find it. [edit] Self-references
The intro to this article is a little too self-referential. Please see WP:ASR and try to rework the intro.. thanks. Rhobite 06:23, 25 November 2006 (UTC)
