Talk:List of composers who employed pipe music

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

[edit] Title

The title of this article is confusing. Does this mean composers who wrote for bagpipes (there were some, particularly in France) or who imitated bagpipes in their pieces? If the latter, the titles of specific pieces should be listed. Badagnani 03:56, 15 July 2006 (UTC)

Would it be too much trouble for the originator of this article to answer the above question? Badagnani 13:26, 20 September 2006 (UTC)

I have also a doubt: where did Beethoven, Haydin and Schubert employ pipe music?????? Tonyjeff 02:09, 21 September 2006 (UTC)

Some French Baroque composers wrote concertos and other pieces for the musette de cour but the other composers utilized imitations of bagpipes, complete with drone and sometimes with altered scales (flat seventh, sharp fourth). Haydn's Symphony no. 88, movement 3 is a good example, as is Beethoven's 6th symphony. That's why I asked, because the title of the article doesn't make this clear (and the originator of the article apparently doesn't like to answer questions about his articles on "discussion") So it's a bit of a problem.
