[edit] Heart's Delight/Islington

I noticed that Islington was not listed but Island Cove (Trinity Bay) was instead. Since the community changed its name from Island Cove to Islington in 1911, I made an edit.

I also changed Heart's Delight to Heart's Delight/Islington. The two communities have been considered "joined" for some time now and the name, when referred to in an "official" context, is presented as Heart's Delight/Islington. Having lived in the community for nearly 19 years, I did feel the need to make such an edit.

If this list was intended to present the original names of Newfoundland and Labrador communities, please let me know. Otherwise, the two community names previously described have now been brought up to date.

The intention, at least mine was, to give a complete list of each and every community that did existed and was resettled and those that still survive today. Fore those with a name change or no longer exists should get redirected to the appropriate article describing the community of today. The article would then cover the topic of discovery, settlement, name origins, name changes, resettlement, etc. This way, again as I see it, would be a great first point to start research for those seeking names of communities that once existed. Take for example Admiral's Cove, Fermuse Harbour (Newfoundland), it redirects to Port Kirwan. HJKeats 19:01, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
Thank you for clarifying your intention for this article. As there was no information on either Heart's Delight or Islington (Island Cove), I decided to go ahead with the edit anyway. I have been considering starting articles on both communities and, should I do this before someone else, the idea of "redirecting" will certainly come in handy.

[edit] Comprehensive List?

Is this list comprehensive? I recently made a link for Renews-Cappahayden in the Chance Cove Provincial Park article but I can't find that town on this list. Rmhermen 00:53, Jun 13, 2005 (UTC)

IMHO, photographs should not be posted in this list of communities. This photograph for the community should be placed in the article about the community. HJKeats 11:33, 1 June 2006 (UTC)

Thanks, I had accidently found the old photo of Outer Cove and as I hadn't put in an article I was placing it there as an example of the little cove's around the province. Empty articles are misleading - they conceal the fact (shown by red links) that an article is required. Do not create Green's Harbour, Newfoundland and Labrador until you are ready to give it some useful content. -- RHaworth 07:47, 24 June 2006 (UTC)

Thanks but again you and others fail to see the big picture, there is a Wiki Project that about 9 of us are working on. I agree with you however about incomplete articles but this is different,

Wikipedia:WikiProject Newfoundland and Labrador & the one you found my photo on: List of communities in Newfoundland and Labrador are being worked on piece by piece, some are supplying articles , some are supplying and working on links, I am working on photos, and others are doing what they can with support etc. I have completed the A, T, U and most of the B Lists with , for right now, small amounts of information OR A PHOTO, to get things going. I know you are trying to help but there is a bigger picture, Thanks for your input, I will post this conversation on the Talk pages and see what others think. [edit] StatsCan Listing

If you were to mozy on over to User:Super cyclist/NL, I have put together a current listing (as of the 2001 Census) of the cities, towns, villages, census-designated places and unincorporated places, as per Statistics Canada. I know the subdivisions are little-used, but give a sense of division. I don't feel comfortable replacing this article with the above-mentioned table, as there are many articles listed here that are not in my listing (and vice versa). Use as much as you can!
