Talk:List of University of Santo Tomas people

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

If you spot an article of a University of Santo Tomas (elementary, high school, undergraduate and postgraduate, but not hononary) alumnus, feel free to add Category:University of Santo Tomas alumni at the bottom of the page. Thanks. --Howard the Duck 13:54, 7 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Classifying

The Philippine National Heroes and Notable Thomasians should be integrated with other groups. --Howard the Duck 04:55, 4 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Relationship must be clarified

This is a nice, comprehensive list. However, a lot of the people listed in it need to have their relationship with UST clarified. That is, if the person's an alumnus, his degree ought to be specified. If he's a professor, that ought to be mentioned too. Rmcsamson 03:06, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

I've let people edit this list freely and they've been adding relationships to a lot of them quite nicely. --Howard the Duck 03:11, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
Thats true. Perhaps there's a source which can be tapped to determine the degrees which these people took up, if ever they attended UST.Rmcsamson 08:21, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
We're not battling this page to be featured standard, and since the inclusion of these people's name to the page seems to be non-controversial, the absence of references would be fine. Unless someone adds a {{fact}} tag... --Howard the Duck 10:04, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
Of course not. That this page isn't being groomed for WP:FL status is a lame excuse, though. After all, Wikipedia isn't an indiscriminate repository of information. Rmcsamson 10:27, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
In addition to that, I see far less harm in actually determining the relationship between these people and UST than simply allowing an indiscriminately-added list to grow. Rmcsamson 10:32, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
But every list's ultimate dream is to be an FL, lol. Anyway, if you dispute an inclusion, you can always add a {{fact}} tag. Or if you dispute everything, place an {{unreferenced}} tag, it's that simple, really. It's not really discriminate information, you can try AFDing this if you feel it violates WP:NOT. Which brings me, how can a list of people related to a school be indiscriminate? There are lots of lists like this in Wikipedia, why pinpoint this one? --Howard the Duck 10:36, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
This isn't the first list I've brought something like this up about. This list, in partucular, has caught my attention, because it's one of the better lists that I've seen, which is why it will be nice to see it improve. As for lists and dreaming, I had no idea that lists could dream, much less dream about becoming featured. Rmcsamson 10:41, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
Don't take it literally, or else this list might transform into an article and dreams of even bigger things, lol. The editors of this list has had been adding the colleges and courses of the people listed here. Originally this was bare with just a list of all people unclassified, raw and "indiscriminate". Of course information would be added eventually.... --Howard the Duck 10:47, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
Might I suggest arranging the names in a table, to facilitate the addition (and improve presentation) of information, then? I also had no idea that my alleged taking things literally could actually give rise to this list having dreams. You brought that one up. Hahaha. Rmcsamson 12:02, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
Good idea, I'll do that tomorrow. --Howard the Duck 12:04, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
Update got lazy, might do it in the near future, you can do it if you'd want to, though. --Howard the Duck 16:49, 24 March 2007 (UTC)
