[edit] Distinguish living/active from deceased/inactive

It might be handy for this section to list more clearly which faculty members are still living/teaching at UCB, and which are no longer faculty/are deceased. The preceding unsigned comment was added by 64.201.173.189 (talk • contribs) .

I agree with the idea that those distinctions should be made, but there are a number of alternatives on how to split. I see two cross-cutting distinctions: living/dead and affiliated/former. This gives four possibilities: living current faculty, living former faculty, deceased faculty who died or retired from the University without going to another school, and deceased faculty who left the University prior to their death. Then there are living professors emeriti; should they be split off into their own group, or just noted in their entry? Mike Dillon 01:55, 6 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Joel Hildebrand

We need to add Joel Henry Hildebrand - Professor of chemistry to the list.
