[edit] Deletion nomination
uh, excuse me? Since when is a list of Scientology centers grounds for deletion, as compared to, say, List of sport associations in the Faroe Islands, or List of gay and lesbian resource centres in Ireland??? wikipediatrix 05:56, 7 December 2005 (UTC)

- This is really amusing. Scientology is a large organization. It has several names for those elements of it which deliver services. Celebrity Centers is an example. In addition to delivering services it has become large enough that it can spawn and support organizations such as A.B.L.E. and Narconon which penetrate its goals into society. In addition to all of that it has a number of internal organizations (Such as Gold)whose only reason for existence is to serve the body of the organization. If you are interested in a list of those service organizations which deliver services to public the CoS would happily supply probably anyone with such a list. On the other hand, if you seek to understand how the whole of the thing is organized (americanese for "organised") it would a complex and difficult study that has to do with lower organizations serving higher ones in some ways and being independent in other ways. One thing you can be pretty sure of, It can buy major buildings in major cities so the whole thing works and works effectively. There is one top delivery org, 5 advanced delivery orgs, a number of saint hills (high delivery), many normal delivery orgs and then missions and less than mission status, groups. In every case, for delivery of services it goes low to high, the idea being the higher org draws from and in some ways provides expertise to its lower organizations.Terryeo 20:31, 29 December 2005 (UTC)

- I don't see how it's more valid then many religion related lists that got deleted. Trust me Scientology is not being picked on. The following lists were deleted recently: List of Jewish publishers, List of Jewish criminals, List of Jewish Recipients of National Medal of Technology, List of Catholic Businesspersons, List of Catholic Adventurers, List of Catholic Athletes, List of Jews in business,List of Muslim athletes, List of Catholic actors(List of Catholic American Actors was not AfD'd), and List of Catholic composers. Although I created List of Roman Catholic Church musicians so there'd be some list on Catholic music. (A topic I did try to look up at Wikipedia long before these delete efforts) Also there is no List of synagogues or List of mosques. (Well son of a gun List of mosques came out blue, I might have to reconsider) Personally I'd prefer they delete the stupidest lists first, but I think from Wikipedian cultural standards religion-related lists are automatically stupider then any List of celebrities with breast implants kind of thing.--T. I came across this page while vandal-fighting. It's my opinion that it's listcruft, ad borderline spam. Please do NOT remove the AfD notice until the AfD is closed. You are welcome to vote on the AfD, however. --негіднийлють (Reply|Spam Me!*|RfS) 06:04, 7 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Improving this article
I'm filling this article with as much actual referenced information as I can, because really it was pretty crappy when it was nominated for deletion.
- Gee thanks David, but this IS where I was intending to go with the article. It got deleted before I had even begun! wikipediatrix 15:54, 13 December 2005 (UTC)

- Hey, there's plenty still to go! %-D There will be PLENTY of sites on the critical web with lists like mine. I only did Australia because it was my specialty - David Gerard 22:23, 13 December 2005 (UTC)
I have included a bunch of stuff I lifted directly from my own critical site at http://www.suburbia.net/~fun/scn/orgs/ . I reformatted and toned it down a bit, but I'd like others to look over it for NPOV.
Adding stuff to this article: any lists of orgs from CoS books would be just the thing. If you include a Web reference, a date accessed would be a very good idea. Historical info (tracing past orgs) would be fantastic, if refs can be found - David Gerard 15:10, 13 December 2005 (UTC)
- User:Vilerage suggested on the AfD talk page that a PD map of the world with red dots for regular centers, and blue dots for "celebrity" centers, would be infinitely more useful than a link-farm., and offered to provide technical assistance with putting this together. I think that this would be a useful illustration for the main Scientology article. --- Charles Stewart 16:47, 13 December 2005 (UTC)

- Ooh, that'd be fabulous. Must talk to some Wikipedia map makers ... - David Gerard 22:23, 13 December 2005 (UTC)
I've filled in addresses for many of the US orgs and added many new ones to the list.... I re-ordered the US orgs by state, in anticipation of the section being formatted like the rest of the article. In the meantime, though, I've continued to use the temporary format that's already there. wikipediatrix 14:47, 14 December 2005 (UTC)
- Hmmmmmmmmmm.... and now it's all been reverted! David, you mind explaining why you reverted all my work with only "(correct name for ASI)" as your edit summary??! wikipediatrix 16:57, 15 December 2005 (UTC)

- Oops, I probably went back a page instead of cancelling an edit. Feel free to fix - David Gerard 21:46, 27 December 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Telephone directory
I don't think Wikipedia should include the telephone numbers (or, arguably, street addresses) of these organizations. We are not a telephone directory. Moreover, some of these organizations are noted as being at people's houses, and giving the people's names too, so there is a WP:BLP problem as well. --FOo 05:30, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
