I'd like comments on the sectioning of this page. --GunnarRene 20:46, 19 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Perhaps a character relationship chart would be good? Remeber that the movie, manga and series are not equal in this. --GunnarRene 20:46, 19 Jun 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Itsuki Kisaragi
Isn't Itsuki's origin the same in the movie and the TV series? They were both made using the DNA of Quon and Watari, right? I can't remember a reference to Itsuki being cloned from Ayato. I thought they were twins of the same age. --GunnarRene 17:03, 30 November 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Character Descriptions
This section moved from Talk:RahXephon
Within the upcoming week, I'd like to add a section to this article for character descriptions. In the process, I would prefer to merge the cast list with the character description list (a la Ranma ½ characters). If anyone has any problems with this, just post here and a proper way of writing the article can be discussed. It is also possible that due to the large number of characters in RahXephon, the character descriptions will have to be migrated to its own separate article. Js2756 13:20, Jun 8, 2005 (UTC)
- I agree to a separate character article. With a long paragraph on each of so many characters, it becomes too long to exist comfortably with the other interesting sections on this page. Also, there are other interesting characters not yet in the list. I suggest leaving a characters section like the one in the Neon Genesis Evangelion on the main page, and link to the separate characters article from that shorter section. --GunnarRene 17:26, 13 Jun 2005 (UTC)

- Agreed. While writing the character section, I really didn't think it would eventually grow as large as it did. I am aware that there are many missing characters. I had not finished adding them in, but I had already spent over an hour ensuring that everything was properly formatted, and the voice actors matched, so I wanted to get in what I already had. Unless someone else decides to, I will continue to add to the character section until all of the main players are there. If someone can add the Kanji for the Japanese Seiyū, though, it would be great since I don't know Japanese. Js2756 00:22, Jun 14, 2005 (UTC)

- The kanji are in the seiyū articles anyway. Kanji for words that have their own articles, like Japan, anime, or the Japanese individuals are not necessary in the RahXephon article. Only exception are kanji that have an intersting connection with each other, for example similar kanji, homophones, homographs, homonyms on words/names. If, for example one of the seiyū writes their name with a very similar fashion to their character, this is interesteing and should be pointed out. I don't know Japanese, but my AmigaOne with Debian shows the kanji, so I can add them if you wish. --GunnarRene 13:51, 14 Jun 2005 (UTC)

- Whoops, I meant to say kanji for the character names, not the seiyūs. Js2756 23:48, Jun 14, 2005 (UTC)

- I've now made a separate charater article and made a short summary in the main article. --GunnarRene 20:51, 19 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- One more thing: Regarding the tuning: Does Ayato really defeat Quon? It appears that Ayato gains the uppper hand, but Quon seems to go into Ayato and fuse with him. Then she's re-born in the re-tuned world. My impression was that neither side won completely like Bähbem had expected, but that the Mu side and the Human side formed a fusion world where both lived happily together. --GunnarRene 18:49, 13 Jun 2005 (UTC)
-
- Being defeated does not necessarily mean that she was killed. I used the term defeat to refer to the fact that Ayato did win their battle, and the world was tuned to what he desired it to be. Js2756 00:22, Jun 14, 2005 (UTC)
-
-
- I see your point. Though I wonder wether Quon wanted to "win". How about "She is defeated, but not killed,"? Would that be bisased toward my point of view? --GunnarRene 13:51, 14 Jun 2005 (UTC)

-
- It isn't explicit if she lives or dies. It is possible that Ayato does kill her, but chooses to have her be his child in the new world. Remember that Haruka also appears to die, but is alive in Ayato's new world. I think it would be best, if something needs to be added, to say something along the lines, "She is defeated, but it is unknown whether Ayato kills her". Js2756 23:48, Jun 14, 2005 (UTC)

- I personally think it's just a new child named after Quon that merely looks the same due to the mu genes Ayato posesses (hence his similarity in looks to Itsuki). And that Quon and Itsuki are in some 'afterworld'.
- As you can see, this is extremely open to interpretation and it would be unwise to make any outreaching assumptions. Genjix 11:46, 19 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Does Ayato really defeat Quon?
To further develop idea voiced earlier; does the anime state that Ayato and Quon are actually fighting? Given Quon's comment "Promise to be gentle" at the end of the series; one might draw a conclusion that they are actually mating rather than fighting.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 70.28.145.98 (talk • contribs) .
- It's certainly meant as a double entendre, even if Quon might not realize it herself. :-) --GunnarRene 16:19, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Where the heck is Jin's profile?
Jin Kunagi. Where's his profile?
Jin's not the only one with a missing profile. The reporter guy(I have terrible memory for names), Ayato's father(again, terrible memory) and Haruka's uncle(someone shoot me) are missing as well. The page could use some additions.
All taken care of. Willbyr (talk | contribs) 17:09, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

- Making a plan (not really a to-do list) below. Feel free to amend. --GunnarRene 19:23, 9 August 2006 (UTC)

To keep these free (GDFL+CC), no third party art should be included. [edit] Rikudoh
The article definitely needed the entry about Rikudoh. I seem to remember that he has a connection to both Maya and Kunuki, but I can't recall the specifics for the article. Is anyone going to expand on this? Willbyr (talk | contribs) 13:46, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
- OK.--GunnarRene 14:21, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Copyedits
*whew* How's everything look? Willbyr (talk | contribs) 05:53, 9 January 2007 (UTC)
- Whew in ineed. Good job. I just did one small change: [1] --GunnarRene 06:50, 9 January 2007 (UTC)
Well, I thought I was done...seems like every time I come back to this page I see something that could be tweaked. One thing that I am debating putting in Quon's entry is how she relates to Ayato on a personal level, as she is much more physically comfortable and intimate with Ayato than any of the other characters, even Haruka (at least in the TV series...that definitely wasn't the case in the movie, and I haven't read the manga so I don't know what they were like together there). Pertinent enough to put in, or TMI? Willbyr (talk | contribs) 04:37, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
- Good. Include that. Quon doesn't have physical intimacy in any way in the manga. There, she's somebody who hangs around Nirai Kanai and is all "prophet" like (as in the TV series), but she's not somebody who hangs out with the gang a lot. She ends up going into battle against Maya, and is even injured by her when she goes between Maya and Ayato in a vermillion. --GunnarRene 05:04, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
Also, in regards to the references to Earth Girl Arjuna and Discworld in Ayato's entry...honestly, they feel like they need to be in the main article as opposed to here. Willbyr (talk | contribs) 04:37, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
- They're not in the main article because even though they are not original research,
- that similarity is not something mentioned by a reviewer or creator
- the main article is less than 6000 words, but I think that particular section is long enough... maybe.
- If you want to put it back, do so. It's not totally irrelevant. It's just that there's no review cite for it. --GunnarRene 05:04, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Images
That's it for images. No point adding images for the minor characters at the bottom. Everybody else are covered, even Gomi and Youhei. --GunnarRene 06:04, 14 January 2007 (UTC)
- Looks fantastic. Had you planned on putting Dolem images in that article? Willbyr (talk | contribs) 06:37, 14 January 2007 (UTC)
- Um, no, not really. But there is a Dolem image in Dolem as well as in List of RahXephon media. --GunnarRene 13:04, 14 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Asahina
The section on Asahina, IMO, needs some rewriting for continuity, but I'm not sure quite how to approach it. If I remember right, the order of events is:
- Ayato comes back to Tokyo Jupiter and meets Asahina and Torugai; Asahina says that she can't remember things she used to and the time doesn't feel right
- That night, Asahina is wounded by Torugai's guards, leading to the "It's red, right?!" scene
- Asahina and Ayato leave together and live together; while doing so, she starts seeing herself as a Mulian but can't bringherself to tell Ayato
- Asahina starts to come on to Ayato; her Dolem shows up, Ayato defeats it, and kills Asahina in the process.
The way the entry is written doesn't feel like it follows this continuity. Also, I can't remember - does the diary come in before the battle?
One more note - is it worth mentioning Ayato's grief-stricken reactions to her fate in the series and the movie? Willbyr (talk | contribs) 17:24, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
- You have the chronology down pat. The diary comes in for certain after they leave Tokyo jupiter but before the final battle. She might have been keeping it from earlier, but she doesn't carry a purse when she's shot, so it is likely she bought it at the first chance they got along with her hoodie. They spend quite a while living together (We need a montage! Montage!) and she writes in her diary during this time.
- As for the article entry, it does not run contrary to the chronology, but I guess it could read a little better and be condensed. Grief? I say we note it but don't go to long in describing. --GunnarRene 21:11, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
