[edit] Pokemon Ranger Deoxys crisis ep

Ep448/AG170 (ポケモンレンジャー! デオキシス・クライシス!!, Pokemon Ranger! Dexoys Crisis!!) was aired in Japan recently (13 April 2006) as a single 42 minute episode, but people have been changing it as though it were 2 seperate episodes. Pokeani, #pocketmonsters and Serebii.net listed it as a single episode and it is indicated as AG171. Should the episode be left as 2 seperate episodes, as a special episode (the usual opening was not shown) or as a single episode?

--fnfd 15:13, 18 April 2006 (UTC)

It's technically one episode now - it's only speculation at this moment that the English adaptation will air as two half-hour episodes. And we have rules about speculation here at Wikipedia... kelvSYC 15:29, 18 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Merger?

Should this page be merged with Pokémon theme songs? I mean, if "Pokémon media and release information" redirects there... the theme song article seems kind of bland, and also, notice the Yu-Gi-Oh! media and release information and Inuyasha media and release information... I'm thinking about it... Maybe we should combine them and call it "Pokémon media and release information" and maybe add some manga stuff there too... Matty-chan 13:31, 8 May 2006 (UTC)

I think it is better practice to seperate anime episodes from other stuff as the lists are collosal the way they are. --Cat out 19:57, 22 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Openings

When it reads that it's based on the openings for each episode, do you mean the animation/music opening, or do you mean the openings by title card? Since episodes AG131-AG139 are confirmed (and possibly AG140-AG144) to use the Advanced Battle opening, shoudn't they coincide under Pokemon: Advance Battle? Cabby2 22:57, 9 May 2006 (UTC)

Actually, maybe we should put "Part 2 of Advanced Battle" since it's a merger of the last 3rd of Hoenn and the first half of Battle Frontier, however, it should start at "A Real Cleffa-Hanger!" IMO b/c that's when the title card changed. Matty-chan 11:04, 10 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Text that appear upon hovering

Code:<span class="explain" title="{{{2}}}">{{{1}}}</span>
Sample:{{{1}}}

Mitsumasa has been using a template based on the above code so that when you hover over a Japanese name, the english name would appear in a tooltip (i think that is what is called) window. Though I find it useful, it is not right to replace an existing template. However, it would be allright if a new template with the above code were to be created. --fnfd 06:20, 18 May 2006 (UTC) (edited by fnfd 06:21, 23 May 2006 (UTC))

[edit] Template:List of Anime Ep TV-Pokemon

I want to employ the table structure visible at List of Oh My Goddess episodes here. I normaly work alone with lists when structuring/restructuring but I do not want to do this alone here for perhaps obvious reasons...

The "English translation" row would need to be ditched (as it is only trivia) and air dates should be introduced.

I can machine translate existing structure to be compatible with Template:List of Anime Ep TV-Pokemon but airdates and short episode descriptions should be manualy added.

--Cat out 19:56, 22 May 2006 (UTC)

I do agree that the English translation would be removed since they can reffer to fan sites and not to mention that there are 3 rows for Japanese title and just 1 for English title. People viewing in 800X600 would have difficulty viewing since the collums are narrow at that size due to the lengthy japanese titles. --fnfd 06:32, 23 May 2006 (UTC)

The episode table at The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya is somewhat smillar except that they used screenshots from that particular episode instead of a DVD cover. Maybe we should use the table base upon that. --fnfd 07:10, 11 June 2006 (UTC)

Um, how to use this template since there are no pokemon DVD covers except for the movies and the fact that there are 460+ episodes in 10 seasons? (In other words, i'm allowing you to use the template) --fnfd 12:58, 23 May 2006 (UTC)

Look at this site: http://www.bulbagarden.net/~dogasu/features/dvd/indigo.html 69.223.130.195 03:10, 1 June 2006 (UTC)
I'm aware of that. But each volume is made up of only 3 to 6 episodes and they only go up to season 6. I'm reffering to a boxset for each entire season and movie. --fnfd 07:45, 1 June 2006 (UTC)
I have heard from somewhere that VIZ Media is going to release a dvd box set for season 1 and 2 in North America and Australia. --fnfd 06:25, 11 June 2006 (UTC)
Maybe we can create another page: Pokémon DVD Guide using this template. WE may also want to add VCD or VHS that is not released in DVD. Ragnaroknike 15:12, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Episode numberings for season 1

Recently, people have been switching the english numbering for "Pokémon, I Choose You!" with "Battle Aboard the St. Anne". The source given is [1] It stated that the st anne ep was aired first, but it did not state which broadcaster aired it. However, the site itself and other TV broadcasters that aired the english version of pokemon indicated that the episode "Pokémon, I Choose You!" came first. Can anyone please clarify? --fnfd 16:21, 25 May 2006 (UTC)

The St. Anne aired first in some areas (perhaps as a sneak preview of the series), although Pokémon, I Choose You! is the first episode of the series. kelvSYC 04:03, 14 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Chinese names?

Do you guys want to add chinese names for the episodes? Discuss it here. --ragnaroknike

Sure, but only on the Chinese wikipedia. Though my chinese is not as good as Japanese. --fnfd 06:19, 11 June 2006 (UTC)

The answer is a flat-out no. There are at least three different Pokémon dubs (China, HK, and Taiwan), each with their own different translation for the name of the series as well as the names of individual episodes. We only include the Japanese names as the series is originally produced in Japanese. kelvSYC 04:03, 14 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Episode divisions

There seems to be some insistance on having a Season 10 listing, even though this is only based on that's where Pokemon started using a new opening. I feel this makes the list inconsistant, as the the rest of the epsiodes were divided based on the US season/openings, not the Japanese ones. Besides, there no such thing in Japan as TV seasons in the way the US TV networks think of them. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 70.237.64.202 (talk • contribs).

[edit] Satoshi and Haruka! Heated Battles In Houen!!

Is this episode considered banned or banned in some countries? I remember it is aired in UK. ragnaroknike

The episode is a review of all the gym battles and pokemon contest in Hoenn by Ash and May respectively. So in some ways it can be counted as a special episode as the preceding and following episodes could skip this episode without any change in the storyline. --fnfd 15:45, 28 June 2006 (UTC)

Should this episode be included in the banned episodes of pokemon? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 165.21.155.8 (talkcontribs).

It's a clip show, and it may have been pointless to dub over a clip show, so there may not have been an English version in the works... kelvSYC 22:45, 20 July 2006 (UTC)

This episode aired in the UK. What is the english name for it? ragnaroknike

[edit] Italics or quotes?

Recently, someone replaced the italics for the titles with quotation marks. Can somebody explain why they were changed? — Fnfd (Talk/ノート) 05:59, 29 July 2006 (UTC)

Shortform works like episodes, issues, or short stories get quotes. - A Man In Bl♟ck (conspire | past ops) 06:06, 29 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Edit war over Japanese names

There seems to be an edit war over translations of Japanese names. I'm ending it, with page protection. Please discuss your dispute here. - A Man In Bl♟ck (conspire | past ops) 15:30, 17 August 2006 (UTC)

The japan names are from http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/List_of_original_series_episodes. The names are correct! when i watch Electric Soldier Porygon from youtube, the name is でんのうせんしポリゴン, not 電脳戦士ポリゴン. Hence it should be correct... Only japan names for series 2 does not have chinese character.
There was already a discussion for this (October 28, 2005): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:List_of_Pok%C3%A9mon_episodes/Archive_1#episode_1-276, and they were no problems until know, so they don't need to change.

(Bobabobabo 18:49, 18 August 2006 (UTC))

It is better to put the original names so that readers will not be confuced. We should not change the origial names!!! - ragnaroknike
Why don't we just add another coloume for the other japan name? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 220.255.57.89 (talk • contribs) .
That would'nt be necessary. Besides, the original titles for those episodes only had kana charaters. Those episodes were ment for young viewers who can't read kanji (chinese characters) and to follow the style of the GameBoy games which can't support it as the screen is too small to view the kanji clearly. Let's just end this dispute, it's been almost a week now. Everyone should just agree to either one and stick to it, though it is preferable if the episode title that's displayed in the episode itself is used. — Fnfd (Talk/ノート) 15:02, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
I agree everyone should stick to one... or else add both, example List of Digimon Adventure episodes. but we need not add the pictures.
I think we stick to what it is now. We will make another page for all the series where it will be in the original names.

[edit] Episode 191 is final episode

TV Tokyo announced that "End of a Journey, Beginning of a Journey" is the final episode.

http://pokeani.com/news/2006_08/08-pokenews30.html

—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Bobabobabo (talkcontribs) .

The second paragraph says that the title for the first episode of Pokemon DP is not written or have it's title confirmed. — Fnfd (Talk/ノート) 05:30, 26 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Episode mix-up???

Under List of Pokémon episodes#Pokémon (Season 2), the japanese names for Misty Meets Her Match! and The Stun Spore Detour are mixed up.

Haruka-chan and Takeshi-san might be staying cause Blaziken is there and in the next episode preview of "Satoshi vs Haruka! Last Battle" Haruka's Wakashyamo is glowing might be indicating a evolution!? And Takeshi's Numakurō evolved this is not 100% confirmed!

[edit] D/P episodes

List of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl episodes

I think we let it stay like this for now. Until this page is unprotected, we will rediect.
Let's put the episodes with the "Digimon infobox". It's better, more informative than a common table.

Where are you going to get the images http://www.tv-tokyo.co.jp/anime/pokemon_dp/main_index.html???
Yes, or http://www.serebii.net/index2.shtml I think that the best is use the same images that are in Serebii, creating a model.
After this page is unprotected are we going to put it back in the normal format or digimon infobox format? Or we make another page (List of Pokémon Series 1 episodes and List of Pokémon Advanced Generation episodes) using the Digimon infobox format?
Digimon Infobox is the best option. It can show screenshots, title, japanese title, airdate, episode number... and I think that is better make different articles (List of Pokémon episodes, List of Pokémon Advanced episodes and List of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl episodes). Like this, we'll occupy a lesser size.
However, this page will not be changed. We will leave it as it is The other page is only to provide more information.

Bobabobabo takes care of Pokémon Battle Frontier. I take care of Advanced, Challenge and Battle.

[edit] kanji?

Why are all of the episode titles except for the Advanced Generation and Diamond and Pearl episode titles are in Kanji if they are originally in Hiragana??? Should the episode titles be replaced with the hiragana titles? MrBungle79 (16:39, 27 November 2006 (UTC))

[edit] Description of Episodes

Would it not be Nice for people to have a little info on the Episodes? I've started to do it (well I've only done the first one, as I'm actually going offline soon, but it would make the whole thing a lot better than just rather having information on the films, or banned episodes. I've included a template link on my first attempt. If people want to change it, that's great! I can't get images from the Episodes I'm affraid, I don't have any way to take pictures from DVD's or videos, so I'm stumped there. Anyways, it would make the whole list a lot better in my opinion, and I'm going to be working on it myself, if no one else is, even if it takes me a whol year. Thanks! [edit] Caps in episode name

In the anime some episodes such as showdown in pewter city, the title is fully capital letters (SHOWDOWN IN PEWTER CITY). Should we change th names? Ragnaroknike 06:28, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Episode 083 - Pallet Party Panic

Hi, just noticed the header states that the division between seasons of Pokémon is based on the openings of each episode, yet episode 083 opens with the theme from season 2.

Is this a known issue or something that needs to be changed? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 198.166.61.119 (talk) 04:44, 22 January 2007 (UTC).

Actually, some airings open to the season 2 theme, some to the season 1 theme (IIRC, both the original Canadian and US releases had the season 1 theme). However, we put this in season 1 as it logically ends the Kanto arc. kelvSYC 22:26, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Pokémon names in the Japanese title translations

Should the titles be along the lines of "Enter the Zenigame Corps!", or "Enter the Squirtle Corps!"? Should Pokémon names in the translations of the Japanese titles (not the Rōmaji) be translated into their English forms? I say yes: just as the word gundan translates directly to "corps", and tōjō translates directly to "entry", Zenigame translates directly, in a one-to-one correspondence, to "Squirtle". Names of characters and places shouldn't be changed to their English equivalents (Satoshi does not directly translate to "Ash", for example, as not all people named Satoshi in Japanese are named Ash in English), but Pokémon names, because they aren't technically proper nouns, and are directly translatable, should be translated. Plus, it would add to potential readers' understanding of the episode's content (by allowing them to understand which Pokémon is featured in the episode - something that the English titles often do not mention) without adding synopses or summaries. This way, those episodes which contain the Pokémon's name only in the Japanese title, such as "Erika to Kusaihana" ("Erika and Gloom" translated, "Pokémon Scent-sation!" in English) will feature both the Japanese and the English names in this list. I can't see any downsides to this, but anyone's welcome to comment. ~e.o.t.d~ (蜻蛉の目話す貢献) 09:38, 27 March 2007 (UTC)
