[edit] Article start

Does anyone know any Neopets that have been discontinued?

Joiz 03:13, Jun 28, 2004 (UTC)

There aren't any. There are some that have been changed to something else, though. I don't think the old names are significant enough for their own articles. I'm trying to add notes to the relevant pets where I can. Aranel 02:50, 9 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Merged information comes from the following articles: Acara Aisha (Neopet) Blumaroo Bruce (Neopet) Buzz (neopet) Chia (Neopet) Chomby Cybunny Draik Elephante Eyrie Flotsam (Neopet) Gelert (Neopet) Grarrl Grundo Ixi Jetsam (Neopet) JubJub Kacheek Kau Kiko Krawk Koi (Neopet) Korbat Kougra Kyrii Lenny Meerca Moehog Mynci Nimmo Peophin Poogle Pteri Quiggle Ruki Scorchio Shoyru Skeith TechoTuskaninny Uni (Neopets) Usul (Neopet) Wocky Yurble Zafara

I'm now working on restoring the useful external links that accompanied those articles... --Aranel ("Sarah") 16:18, 4 Sep 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Kougra extra info

Removed from Kougra:

On the 4th of August, in 2004, the Kougra was decided to be next for a makeover. Users got to choose between one of 6 designs. Number 3 was a joke design which was standing on 2 legs and appeared to be in a costume, number 1 was based off of the First Kougra, the second kougra looked younger, the fourth Kougra looked like something from Lion King, number 5 looked like an older version of the Kougra when it first got it's makeover, and number 6 looked a bit more like a lion. On August 5th, Number 2 arose victorious.

I don't think this information really adds anything to the article, and it will be dated quickly. (Also, how long will they keep those images on the servers, and do they really want us linking directly to them?) I worked in a brief explanation of the fact that the redesign was actually re-designed, since that is of some note. --Aranel ("Sarah") 17:46, 4 Sep 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Neocolours

I'm not sure where to put this, because I'm very new here. There is a site called Neocolours that provides images of all of the Neopets in all of their possible colors, including those pets or colors not yet released or no longer available. Like the NBN: Old Pets page, it also provides historical graphics to show the changes over time. The site also includes petpets and shopkeepers. If somebody with more Wikipedia experience than I could add this in an appropriate place (if not in this article, then in another?), I would be grateful. Thanks!

--Etoile 05:14, 19 Mar 2005 (UTC)
I know this is an old comment, but I thought I'd mention that Neocolours seems to be gone offline. The way this post is worded, it sounds like someone just wanted the site linked for advertising purposes anyway :\ -Togemon 21:22, 6 January 2006 (UTC)
Not necessarily. It might have been used as a source since, in which case it would need to be cited. --AySz88^-^ 03:13, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
The site has since returned at www.neocolours.me.uk

[edit] Maraqu*e*an?

Also - Maraqu'e'an? I have never heard that word. It's pretty much always Maraquan isn't it? -Etoile 20:43, 3 Apr 2005 (UTC)

As far as I know the correct word is Maraquan or Maractite (when referring to weapons). I could be wrong though. -Togemon 21:22, 6 January 2006 (UTC)

Nope, you're correct.

[edit] Pictures

Are we allowed to use pictures of the various Neopets under fair use? Somebody in the WWW 05:43, 8 Jan 2005 (UTC)

  • Not likely, in the years I've played, TNT has been very grumpy about copyrights. However, if we include a copyright notice for them, maybe. User:Premeditated Chaos/Sig 07:06, 8 Jan 2005 (UTC)
You can always ask them at their official site. 500LL 19:09, July 10, 2005 (UTC)
My understanding is that you can pretty much always use any image as fair use as long as the image is relevant to the article. It's more when people use images from others as though they are their own that copyright issues come into play, for example if Wikipedia were to adopt an image of Kougra as its logo. Theshibboleth 22:33, 10 December 2005 (UTC)
You can use images as much as you like for "personal web pages for your personal noncommercial use", as long as you include the copyright notice they provide in their terms and conditions. [1] is evidence of this. --Tim 17:00, 19 April 2006 (UTC)

I think we need pictures next to every pet Superstarwarsfan 22:00, 16 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Vandalism

There has been a few cases of vandalism by someone introducing errors into the article (example: [2]). I think there might be a few lingering inaccuracies (ex: [3]). Thus, I have added a Not verified tag to the article until someone more familiar with the material can comb through it. AySz88^-^ 03:54, 13 November 2005 (UTC)

Yes, the first example edit you gave is a case of vandalism. I will clean up the article. The second example however, is a legitimate correction CanadaGirl 04:32, 1 December 2005 (UTC)

What I meant is, someone vandalized that part earlier (probably from a long time ago), so it wasn't caught by recent reverts. There has been way too many edits since whenever that vandalism was introduced, so all of those have to be manually filtered out now. Thank you for offering! --AySz88^-^ 04:47, 1 December 2005 (UTC)

Someone should remove the information about Terask and Terask II, Neoquest, from Draik. A small article for Neoquest would be better. Visitor

That kind of article would be better for a Neopets-specific wiki, but I shortened it to one sentence. --AySz88^-^ 01:13, 17 December 2005 (UTC)
If it would it be appropriate to remove the Not verified tag please do so, the text above makes it look as if the tag is no longer required Jeepday 17:04, 13 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Kyrii/Fuzio

Does anyone know anything more about why the Fuzio had to be replaced? The article states that it was because of copyright issues, but I believe this needs to be clarified. -Togemon 21:18, 6 January 2006 (UTC)

Fuzio is/was (haven't check to see if it is still around) a dining establishment, and I believe it brought a lawsuit against neopets. Zytch 12:42, 6 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Seperate headings?

For the Lupe, Acara, Cybunny, Aisha, Peophin, Grarrl, Skeith, Techo, and Kacheek sections, would it be possible to have each of the Protectors of Altador that are Neopetd have their own heading under the pet species sections? With the Altador Plot on Neopets clearly showing that stories relating to the lives of these Protectors before they became Protectors are going to be available, I think this would be a good idea.

Or maybe there could be a seperate article titled 'The Twelve Protectors'?

I like the idea of a different section, but the article is a list of neopets, not general information about notable neopets. --Tim 17:05, 19 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Lutari

The lutari sections says "Currently it is not necessary to pay to own a lutari". Why would it be necessary to pay? It isn't for any of the other pets. It's like saying "lutaris are not real life creatures" - it goes without saying for all the pets!

There are many who believe that the Lutari will shortly become Cell Phone only, as they were originally set to be released via a cell phone promotion. We haven't heard anything about that, however, since the Lutari was first announced, so I doubt the claim. Feel free to take it out :) Zytch 17:06, 23 April 2006 (UTC)
Okay then, I will. If it happens, then the information will undoubtedly be added back in --Tim 20:40, 24 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Kyrii

What do people think a kyrii looks like? According to the article, they look like ferrets, but also look like squirrels with bull terrier's heads. What do people think? --Tim 12:22, 20 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Big Change

I just wanted to say I was the one who made the big change to the article. There were wayy too many links, when most of them could be fixed by just linking to Neopets and the old pose archive once. I also put the external links at the bottom of the page, where they belong, and uncluttered it. Also, someone screwed with the clickable links, inputting their own names for Neopets, which I fixed :). This article needs a bunch more work, but I figured this is a decient start. Zytch 17:28, 23 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] TCG Elements

For some reason, a lot of people went through and screwed up all the TCG elements. Saying that there's elements of Ice/Poison/Night and other crap in the TCG. Fixing. Oh. Just for reference, the only magical elements in all forms of the game are Earth, Water, Air, Fire, Darkness, and Light. No Nature, Night, Ice, Poison, Stone, Rock, or anything else.

Well is there or isn't there an earth element? You've put it in both your lists! --Tim 15:34, 8 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Stats and formating of famous lists

I've gone though the sections up to Kau so far updating the popularity stats and making the famous pets include lists the same, but I'll have to finish doing this tomorrow, I haven't just given up.Tartan 21:12, 14 May 2006 (UTC)

I have finished going through each section and making updates. Hopefully everything looks a bit tidier, but I may have missed some items in some sections. I'll hopefully get round to updating the popularity stats again sometime in the next few months.Tartan 22:33, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
Thank you! :) --AySz88^-^ 20:34, 26 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Limited/Restricted List

I think having a list of limited or restricted Neopets at the top would be good, and be better than listing all known pets of that type in every Neopets' section. --Joe Somebody 02:28, 10 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Mistake?

When I read this article, it says: "Although the Grarrl the first Neopet on the site." Anybody know what it means? --194.134.195.193 06:47, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Major cleanup (20.12.2006)

I corrected the spelling/grammar mistakes and other things I found. I removed information that was unnecessary or did not add to the subject of the list.

Other reasons: From Blumaroo - Boris repeated information, confusion with "evil" From Chia - information becomes dated. From Grarrl - confusion.

I have not finished, but please reintegrate what information may have been necessary. Squids and Chips 04:07, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

It appears as if I forgot to hit the Save button, so the edits are todays. Squids and Chips 16:01, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] 22 December, 2006

  • From Lenny - repeated information
  • From Lupe - Lupe-Gelert relation is unreferenced and is an opinion of Neopets players
  • From Lutari - Lutari Island has no major significance to Lutari.
    • Mr. Chipper information repeated
  • From Mynci - opinion
  • From Poogle - that information no longer seems to exist.
  • From Pteri - redundant information
  • From Skeith - tautology. Generally already sums it up.

Other things were removed due to irrelevance or were shortened —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Squids and Chips (talkcontribs) 19:45, 22 December 2006 (UTC).

[edit] 31 December 2006

  • From several popularity sections - The statistics already show the popularity. Female/male popularity is uncited and can't be proven.
  • From Aisha - quality of art has no relevance
    • Plot popularity/replacement is uncited and cannot be proven.
  • From Blumaroo - repeated information. There's already a famous blumaroos section.
  • From Buzz - reason for makeover uncited
  • From Draik - Wikipedia is not a game guide.
  • From Eyrie - uncited statistics
  • From Flotsam - same as above
  • From Grundo - weight gain in uncited and not found on the Neopets site.
  • From Kacheek - Poogle relation is uncited
    • No cited correlation between site popularity and merchandising.
  • From Kiko - Wikipedia is not a game guide

Squids and Chips 18:47, 31 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Famous Pets

I removed the list of famous pets as it's unmaintainable and it's absurd to add every named/non-named NPC pet. Essentially, it's become listcruft. Squids and Chips 03:50, 26 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] South American black acara

I was researching on invasive transports, or invasive species. One animal I had to research was the South American black acara, which did not have an article on Wikipedia. There should be an acara article. At first, I typed in "South American black acara". When that did not work, I typed in "black acara". When that did not work, I typed in "acara", and a redirect page took me here. I do not believe that a NeoPet is really an invasive species (it could be). Is the acara a real animal? It probably is, because it was in my school text. If it is, could someone create an article for it? Thank you. 71.38.211.49 01:27, 4 February 2007 (UTC)

I've created a disambiguation page that refers to the Neopet and the fish. Since I practically know nothing much about the fish, you should probably place a request here: Wikipedia:Requested_articles/Natural_Sciences#Species Squids_and_Chips 16:05, 4 February 2007 (UTC)
