[edit] Unofficial and fanmade titles

(with refernce to this edit [1] by user:pak21)

I don't think it is appropriate to delete these titles with reference to WP:SOFTWARE. As I have mentioned, WP:software refers to articles not references within articles.

Nor do I believe this position to be Wikilawyering - the reason you have cited for the deleation is not relavent. I have no quarrel with the fact these titles would not merit articles in their own right, but that is not the issue. There is no policy (that I am aware of, please point one out if I am wrong) that anything which doesnt merit an article in its own right cannot be mentioned in context in another, notable article.

I believe this case is analogous to the example given in WP:NOTABILITY, where it says "An article on a band that doesn't satisfy the Wikipedia:Notability (music) criteria, such as the garage band that John Kerry used to play in, is merged into John Kerry"'. These titles do not merit their own articles, but are relavent to and should be mentioned in this article as they previously were.

The only potential issue I can see is if they fall foul of WP:VERIFY, in which case adding {{fact}} tags would be more appropriate. Poobarb 19:03, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

Equally, WP:NOTABILITY says "Topics that cannot be substantiated in any published works at all are simply unverifiable and must be deleted." Which published works are you claiming these titles are mentioned in? The burden of proof is on the editor adding or restoring material (WP:V). --Pak21 22:48, 9 January 2007 (UTC)
