[edit] Verification

This list has serious verification issues. What methods can we use to verify the codes on this list? --Measure 00:59, 9 February 2006 (UTC)

  • Does the Konami Code really do something in Jackal? I've never heared about it existing in that game, or at least, not in my version. (NES version, US release) --Dez26 17:05, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Unexpected Admin Intervention

Deletion per WP:NOT seems appropriate to me. Friday (talk) 01:01, 9 February 2006 (UTC)

Can you think of a better way to cleanup the Konami code page without deleting relevant content from Wiki? I don't see this violating WP:NOT 1.7. It is not a list of cheat codes, as the Konami Code in some games is nothing more than an easter egg. The Konami code affects a plethora of video games and the article is neccessary to explain why it exists. This list would allow me to remove a massive amount of page-hogging information from there, and put it in a repository that could be managed seperately. --Measure 16:00, 9 February 2006 (UTC)
Well, feel free to make a go of it. If anyone "undeletes" the page I won't edit war over it. (By the way, I "deleted" it using a form of transparent deletion, so anyone can undo it or view the history.) I don't personally tend to like "list of" pages, since they're rarely proper articles, but maybe that's just me. Friday (talk) 16:05, 9 February 2006 (UTC)
Btw, there was no admin intervention here. I just made a normal edit. Sorry if that was confusing. Anyway I "undeleted" it, in case it wasn't clear how to do so. Sorry if I jumped the gun, but I don't see how lists of game codes are encyclopedia articles. Friday (talk) 16:26, 9 February 2006 (UTC)
Meh, just looking for a catchy title for this section of the talk page. No hard feelings here. --Measure 16:37, 9 February 2006 (UTC)
This is not just merely a game code. The Konami Code is more than that... and a list of all the games it appeared in is relevant information.--Dez26 17:03, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
WP:NOT states "there is nothing wrong with having lists if their entries are famous because they are associated with or significantly contributed to the list topic". In this case the Konami Code is relevant to an ecyclopedia because it has been widely used in many games - so much so that developers from other companies have referenced it in their games. In this context it is useful for the reader to be aware of how widespread it has become - the range and scale of games in which it has been used and the variety of effects that it has in each of the games I believe 'significantly contributes to the list topic'. I also believe that it is correct to be presented as a seperate article in order not to clutter up the main article. Bryces 16:33, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Organization of list

I'm thinking it might look nicer if we split up this list by platform, and/or time. We could have a section for NES, SNES, Arcade, etc. Anybody want to help work on that? --Measure 21:38, 8 December 2006 (UTC)

I'd be up for splitting this by platform, but aren't some of them multi-platform? For example, featured on PC and PS? xCentaur | 07:16, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
