[edit] Include Jesus?

Shouldn't Christ go into this list? I suggested so 'cause i heard he's a jew and i think he should so be included on this list.

I agree Where is Jesus,Mary,John.
Subheading says: "List of Jewish figures from the Hebrew Bible" (Old Testament). Perhaps that should be the article's (more accurate) title. (Note: Please use your signature when posting. It will also help your separate postings [which I separated] not to be jumbled together as one.)--Kibbitzer 22:10, 12 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Reorganization ideas

I find the list hard to work with. Is it better to have a strictly alphabetical list--with "one name, one line"? It'd be very easy to add entries in the "right" place. The downside is that each entry would have to be ID'd as to historical period and/or groupings, and also one would not get a feel for the context of each person mentioned.

The alternative is to perhaps present the list by historical period. The periods could perhaps be designated as the patriarchs, the exodus, judges, kings of the united kingdom, kings of the northern kingdom / southern kingdom, the captivity [basically of the southern kingdom], the return). The downside is that it'd be a bit involved to portray some groupings, such as when members of a group span several periods of Jewish history, e.g., the major and minor prophets, or when there are two groups that inhabit the same period, e.g., the northern and southern kings. But I think it's doable. Any thoughts?--Kibbitzer 04:37, 2 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Adjust title of article?

I propose to retitle the article "List of Jewish Figures from the Hebrew Bible"--something to limit the list to the Hebrew Bible, rather than having to have a subtitle provide the limiting factor. Then someone could perhaps start a "List of Jewish Figures in the New Testament", if so desired. Or, if title is left as is, perhaps Jews found in the New Testament could be included. Title, or retitle?—That is the question. Thoughts?--Kibbitzer 04:37, 2 May 2006 (UTC)

I would prefer a move to List of figures from Jewish Scripture since a) not all Jewish scripture was written in Hebrew, parts of the prophets are in Aramaic and b) Including non-Jewish figures like the Pharaoh, Kings Artaxerxes, Darius, Nebuchadnessar would make in my opinion a more interesting list. There could also be separate List of figures from Christian Scripture. Zargulon 16:38, 28 June 2006 (UTC)
Practically all Old Testament figures are Jewish. Perhaps a list of "major" Jewish biblical figures would make more sense (that appears to be what this list is, anyways). --Eliyak T·C 19:41, 19 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Son of God?

Could someone please give a source for that? (One which meets WP standards) Fourtildas 08:16, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
