[edit] Freeways/Highways

In List of Houston highways, the original article name referred to freeways, not highways. With the exception of U.S. 90A (South Main), which is very close to being a freeway) these all appear to meet the definition of freeways. That is, they are all controlled access (the requirement to pay a toll does not mean a road is not a freeway, according to houstonfreeways.com). I liked the list better as a list of freeways, rather than highways, as it seems more tightly/rigorously defined and less likely to fill up over time with all kinds of highways such as:

  • Highway 6
  • Beaumont Highway (U.S. 90 between the East Belt and I-10)
  • TX 249 inside the beltway
  • Other parts of "highway" 90A inside the loop
  • Other state "highways" like TX 242, TX 146, TX 35 (Telephone Road portion), TX 3
  • Even far out examples of state "highways" in the 10-county area, like TX 105, TX 124, TX 36, TX 150, TX 156, TX 321 (I had to look up those last 3 for myself :) )

I think referring to them as "freeways" is the most appropriate and the best-defined alternative. If the name is changed back to freeways, I would add a note that U.S. 90A-South Main is not fully controlled access (although I think that it will eventually be controlled access between Hiram Clarke to the west of BW 8, if I'm not mistaken.) I'd like to hear your opinion. Ufwuct 02:43, 31 July 2006 (UTC)

Not to mention that all Farm/Urban Roads are technically state highways as well. --Holderca1 12:23, 18 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Table?

I thinking of putting the article into a table format which I hope will be more attractive and more readable. Ufwuct 05:56, 23 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Other traffic counts

Other traffic counts in case they're needed: U.S 90A: 35990, Allen Parkway: 28,950, Memorial: 45,180. Ufwuct 17:46, 23 December 2006 (UTC)
