Talk:List of High Sheriffs of the United Kingdom
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Suggest article should be retitled. There are High Sheriffs only for areas of England and Wales, not for the rest of the United Kingdom, nor for the United Kingdom itself--George Burgess 14:15, 13 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Duplication
This list should be abandoned and List of Shrievalties maintained. === Vernon White (talk) 09:26, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
My apologies. I created this page by splitting off a portion of Order of precedence in England and Wales, which was far too long, and I wasn't aware at the time that List of Shrievalties existed. I too propose that any non-redundant information from this article be copied over to List of Shrievalties and that this page then be redirected there. Alkari (?) 02:34, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Accuracy of this page?
The entry for Hertfordhsire said Lady Lyell. She WAS High Sheriff 1999-2000. The current High Sheriff (for a few more days) is Howard Anthony Guard. How up-to-date are the other entries? Is someone going to amend the whole list in a week's time when they all get replaced? Emeraude 09:46, 18 March 2007 (UTC)

- This List does not include Cornwall and Lancashire, whose sheriffs are appointed by the respective Duchies, not the Crown. I suggest that this article be abandoned and a redirect to List of Shrievalties be made from List of High Sheriffs (England and Wales). The article "List of Shrievalties" links to a separate chronological list for each County. Some of these County lists are still redlinked. Cornwall's list goes back to 1571 (with gaps). However, none are likely to give undated information as current. === Vernon White (talk) 09:42, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
