[edit] English vocie actors for the druggies

There's no mistaking Richard Ian Cox as Shani Andras, even though the end credits on the dvds only credited him for playing Tolle Koenig. But even though the dvd and the website CrystalAcids.com credited Andrew Toth as Clotho Buer, I very pig-headedly refused to believe it because the AnimeNewsNetwork credited Andrew played Orga Sabnak and Ted Cole played Clotho and then that is what I impulsively submitted to the Internet Movie Database. Well, it turns out that that was wrong. Andrew Toth did indeed play Clotho as was said in the end credits of the DVDs. As for Orga, he was voiced by Matt Smith, who also played Jackie Tonomura, but only received credit for that role in the end credits just as Richard Ian Cox only received credit for playing Tolle. Bandai did not make it clear that Matt played Orga until they showed the end credits of Phase-20 Volume 5 of Gundam Seed Destiny. Ted Cole played two other roles in Gundam Seed, Yuri Amalfi (Nicol's father) and Ray Yuki, the guy who kills Patrick Zala; he did not play any of the druggies. That being said, I've already made the changes to the personal pages for Clotho/Andrew and Orga/Matt and the English cast on the Gundam Seed page. And I am currently in the process of correcting my mistake on the Internet Movie Database as well.

[edit] WTF did someone delete like 90% of the pages for Cosmic Era mobile weapons

What the hell is your problem? The grunt units - GINNS, DINNS, etc. - I can understand, but why the hell did you delete all of the important ones like Abyss, Aegis, Akatsuki, Blitz, Buster, Calamity, Chaos, Destiny, Destroy, Duel, Forbidden, Gaia, Impulse, Legend, Providence, and Raider? Why the hell did you delete all of those pages and only leave a select few like the Strike, Freedom, and Justice? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Shaneymike (talkcontribs) 14:29, 8 December 2006 (UTC).

I did not personally delete them, but the deletion is per Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/CAT1-X Hyperion Gundam series. I know it is extremely hard to read, but pages without sourced real world impact are violating WP:FICT policies and a consensus is to merge them into a big list. The people at WP:CE are currently working their best on creating the lists and it would be nice if you can help in creating them. Only the units Skygrasper, Strike and Freedom have enough sourced impact (and I fought for a week on why they have impact) to recieve their own pages. MythSearchertalk 14:41, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
So how do you propose to build all the articles again.Sam ov the blue sand 23:03, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
Yeah, Mythsearcher. How do you propose to build all the articles again? Shaneymike 15:18, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
We won't plan to build all of them again, at least not soon. Now we're working hard to improve remain articles, not limit to CE, so they won't got delete so easily. Mythsearcher-san work hard and even fight harder than me in the AfD nom, he deserve none of your rudeness. Instead of attack other, you two better get to work. Rebuild those article if you want to, just make sure it won't cantain very same flaw that got them deleted in first place. L-Zwei 15:42, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
If you read the actual deletion debate, I have already stated how they should be. Now we use the list, and someone should redirect all the pages to the list. Some one is working on the list page, but the redirects need to be done by someone else. Go to WP:CE talk page for more information. I will not help in writing any lengthy material for CE, since the UC pages need more attention for now. MythSearchertalk 15:43, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
Hey here's an idea, how the hell do we get all of that info back I have no freakin clue as to where we got that info at.Sam ov the blue sand 19:43, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

RELAX, people. Read the whole story! All the information deleted are transwikied here: [1] They are just deleted from wikipedia...Ric 06:55, 24 December 2006 (UTC)

I went and did all (all the ones I saw anyway) the redirects yesterday, so now there's no more Red links for Gundam Models. They all send over to the main Mobile Suit page now. Offkorn 23:43, 25 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Representative Homura

Stop deleting information about Representative Homura on this page as well as the personal ones for Uzumi Nara Athha and Cagalli Yula Athha. Cuz it is revealed that he is indeed Uzumi's younger brother.

In Phase-27 of the anime, Cagalli reveals that her father resigned his position and bequeathed his duties to her uncle, Representative Homura, who simply does as he is told by Uzumi. The novelisation also says that Homura is Uzumi's younger brother.
Thanks for the info. It is mentioned in one sentence in Phase-27, though it's a lot clearer in the dub than the sub (which is what I'd seen). Homura is named in Phase-25, though him being nominally in charge is only obvious if you know Uzumi has resigned his position. Uzumi is also called 'former' represntative in Phase-29. Apologies to all, in trying to delete fanon, I deleted actual correct info. I reverted Cagalli's page to Shaneymike's version, I think the other pages have already beem reverted. If not, I'll fix my errors in the next day or so. Edward321 15:02, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Pages for Miguel Aiman and Rusty Mackenzie

I've added pages for Miguel and Rusty. Please don't delete them.

[edit] Picture for Murdoch's personal page?

Anybody got one?

[edit] Clean-Up

I went through and cleaned up the article, using "official" English names (Roanoke, Stella, etc.) I didn't change any of the article pages (Stella's page is still Stellar Loussier...) since I don't quite know how to do that yet.

Anyways, look through it, and if you see something strange, mention it here and I'll tell you where it came from. Things off the top of my head: According to DeaconBlues, who has either the Japanese or Chinese versions of the Astray mangas, Goud Veia's name is officialy romanized as Goud Vair, and Mare Stroud is actually Mare Strode. I deleted Erica Simmons entry in Orb, since we already have her in Terminal/Clyne Faction, and we didn't duplicate anyone elses. Added Mare Strode's Destiny Impule suit to his information, but didn't link it... I also took out the Miguel and Nicol fanlistings, since they seemed more like advertisements than any thing else. I was tempted to remove the blurb about Miguel's appearance in the Comics BONBON since I haven't seen any proof, but it is so widespreadly mentioned that I decided to leave it for the time being.

Like I said...anything else, just bring it up here and I'll find you a source. --208.104.224.37 10:34, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Links to character's personal pages

I't OK to have individual pages for the main characters, as long as they exist. Why, why, put the names in double braces, if their page is blank and redirects HERE?!? If you want to detail someone's page, please do so, but put some text into it! Linking to redirect pages makes no sense whatsoever.

For this reason I reverted back to my version, where the only active links are those actually working.

I'm actually looking forward to having detailed pages about the main characters of SEED Destiny, like Shinn and Talia Gladys. If you are interested in filling them up, I will gladly format them and include them in the proper categories. So far the info about them is scarce and can stay in this page.

Please, do not link to redirects.

[edit] UPDATE:

If you want to compile a page to a character which does not have one, follow the following steps:

  • do a search for the character name on the wikipedia
  • if the search finds nothing, just create the page
  • if the search jumps to this same page (Cosmic Era list of characters), this means there already is a redirect page:
  • on the top of this page, just under the title, there should be a small text saying "redirected from CharacterName"
  • just click on the name, you'll see the page which has only the #REDIRECT entry; this is the character's page
  • edit this page, removing the redirect code (the text you enter should be enough to be on a separate page, if you want to insert a few data, put them on the main page; do not enter data about other characters, battles, mobile suits or technologies, they belong to their respective pages)
  • after you finished editing, you can change the character name in this page to become a link (add the square brackets); DO SO ONLY IF THE PAGE EXISTS AND IS NO LONGER A REDIRECT

[edit] Response

  • Actually just so you would jbiw during my first test when i was using the sandbox on Shinn Asuka's name before I came up with the (Character Profile) Idea all it did was just redirect me back to this page I also checked the Alphabetical Index and Shinn Asuka's name showed up on my search and yes it was a redirect. I also did some more sandbox tests today with the Three Ships Alliance section and some of the entries only came with a non-link, but unforuanately it was only for some of the unimportant Characters. But by following your advice I just learned how to remove redirect codes and by trying out but not saving on the Dearka Elsman Character Data. Also I compliment you on following my suggestion about identifing which Gundam SEED series that the indivdual character appears in. I only did this in the first place to try to help deal with the redirect problem.

[edit] Categorizing

Although I like the Idea how the article is catgorized, the only complaint I have is that the character guide is lacking a way to identify which Gundam Seed Productions that characters have appeared in. Because many inexperienced readers would only get confused by it. This is because many of the articles such as the Uzumi Nara Athha doesn't fully identify that he only appeared in the Gundam SEED series.

[edit] Done, but...

... please fill-in the manga appeareances of regular cast (never seen the mangas) --IgorTrieste 09:30, 6 May 2005 (UTC)

  • Unforunatly I can't since I am mainly an expert with anime, which also includes knowledge on other Gundam series other than Gundam SEED so I can't help you there. Sorry.

[edit] Wikipedia naming standards

I was under the impression that a policy was decided a while back in regards to naming conventions of people/characters in foreign media, where the English name would be followed in parentheses by the original name (in hiragana, katakana, or kanji whichever it is usually written in) as well as a literal transliteration. Can someone confirm or deny? The vast majority of anime pages seem to follow this standard, and I will look into the details of the aforementioned policy myself, but if anyone knows offhand or a decision has been reached in regards to this article in the past to NOT follow this standard, let me know. Otherwise I will begin adding the Japanese names and transliterations soon.--Lord Shitzu 22:16, Jun 7, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] PLANT or ZAFT

Lacus Clyne is explicitly said to be not part of ZAFT (which is the military arm), but she is a citizen of PLANT (civillian government). However, maybe it's best to leave her as ZAFT for consistancy with the other characters.

  • ZAFT is not only the military, but also the political (and economical) organization that manages the PLANTs and its citizens. So the 'States' are the 12 groups of colonies (like Junius, Aprilius), and ZAFT is like a political entity that represents them all, like the Earth Alliance represents various (super)states on Earth. PLANT is a term that means the actual colonies themselves, as originally they were research centres with no political statute. The terms are really used interchangeably, but this version sounds the most plausible (and is the one stated on the Nations and Factions page).--IgorTrieste 08:54, 21 July 2005 (UTC)
I disagree that ZAFT is a political organization, in SEED, Lacus specifically states that she is not in ZAFT, and ZAFT is just the name of the military. Granted, she's not on the council either, but she can be considered a political figure considering the impact she has on the people, and her rebellion later in SEED. The council is a political entity governing the PLANTS, and they have control over ZAFT, but I don't think they should be classified as ZAFT either. PLANT and ZAFT are only used interchangeably in the series because it's easy and because Earth likely doesn't care about any such distinctions.--Lord Shitzu 15:00, August 11, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Mayu Asuka's appearance on Gundam SEED Destiny

I think that Mayu Asuka's fate and whereabouts are unknown, even though she is dead and i expect someone to find her once the Three Ships Alliance reaches Orb before the end of the second war. However, she did not appear in Gundam SEED Destiny as her cellphone is all that remains of her, she only appeared in Shinn's past flashbacks from Gundam SEED. We should change her code from GSD to [GSD] (only appeared in [GS] flashbacks). Her cellphone's voice mail recording does not mean she makes an appearance in this Gundam SEED sequel series. --Ed Telerionus 21:31, 25 Jun 2005 (UTC)

I rather doubt we'll see Mayu Asuka outside of flashbacks, since the last we saw was the bloody stump of her severed arm. She's dead, Jim. Okay, people have survived some crazy stuff in many Gundam series, including this one. But if she's alive, why would she never try to find her brother?
As for the codes, they denote where a character is seen, not when. We don't put [GS] on the Astray-only characters, even though Astray takes place mostly at the same time as SEED. So even though Mayu's only seen in flashbacks, she never actually appeared in SEED. Just in Destiny. 68.47.175.214 04:15, 11 July 2005 (UTC)
I don't see her in Gundam SEED Destiny because she was killed by Kira Yamato during the events of Gundam SEED. -- Ed Telerionus 06:45, 16 July 2005 (UTC)
The [GS], [GSA], and [GSD] tags don't denote when in the Cosmic Era timeline a character appears. It denotes which anime and/or manga the character appears in. Shinn and Captain Todaka don't get [GS] tags even though they show up in flashbacks to the Battle of Orb and its aftermath, because they were never shown on-screen in Gundam SEED. Only in Gundam SEED Destiny. The same is true of Mayu. 68.47.175.214 17:28, 18 July 2005 (UTC)
I agree with the comment above (btw, register so we can know your :). The tags are to know in which series the character appeared, so if you are following say the first series you can know where some info comes from. For example, if a character has a connection in the past with say Kira, and that character is marked as [GSD], it means that those facts were revealed in the second series, and not that you missed them. That was the whole point of marking them all. --IgorTrieste 09:00, 21 July 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Oversized entries

It seems to me that the entries on this article for characters like Kira, Athrun, and Shinn are unnecessarily large. Given that they have their own separate articles, it seems to me that we don't really need to have more than basic information on them in this article. People who want more in-depth info can just click the links, after all. 68.47.175.214 04:15, 11 July 2005 (UTC)

I agree completely. I will trim them down when I can spare some time. --IgorTrieste 09:02, 21 July 2005 (UTC)

[edit] = Olor Koudenberg (Surname)

What information was used as basis for this? Thanks.

Olor Koudenberg's last name was given in the game "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED: Never Ending Tomorrow"

[edit] There are no newtypes in the CE timeline

There are no newtypes in the CE timeline, it is officially annouced by Sunrise. Sunrise and Bandai adorpted a new term Spacial Awareness ability (空間認識能力). It is still used in the Sept. 2005 Newtype magazine Seed-Destiny data file in page 12 stating Mu's Spacial awareness ability is not necessary on the new generation dragoons due to the new improved quantum interface. (量子インターフェースを改良した新世代のドラグーンシステムを装備し、ムウのような空間認識能力がなくともドラグーンを使用できる。) The term Newtype was never used in any of the data files, any of the model manuals, or any part of the official website in both Japanese and English. I have read them all just because of this little matter about fandom on wiki's CE page. I hate proving something does not exist and it really should be the ones who claim it existed should be finding the sources themselves. Whoever wanted to add in the term newtype, get an official source and show proof(In English or Japanese, if it is in any language, there must be an official Japanese source.) just scan it, if you do not have a scanner, give the ISBN of the book or the URL link to the Official web site. Otherwise it is just Original research and should not be put into a wiki article. I have my own sources to find and read the books and accept it as an official source if it does exist, bluffing will not get your way to add fandom into a wiki article. And by the way, I am NOT a SEED nor SEED-D fan, thus I do not wish to keep tracking if the article was maintain in good fandom-free state. However, when I ever see the term appear again in any of these CE articles without a source, I WILL view it as original research and revert them for wiki's sake, any re-reverts will be viewed as vandalism and be reported. If you have any questions about the official settings, ask. As long as it is related to technology, I can answer with well proven source. MythSearcher 18:49, 27 October 2006 (UTC)

We've had people claim things were in magazines that were total fabrications or inaccurate rumors before. Mitsuo Fukuda has explicitly referred to Mu as a Newtype in interviews, and statements by the director of the series hold greater weight than some Wikipedia editor who merely claims to have a magazine article supporting his argument (an article that conveniently is unavaiable to most other editors). Not to mention, in the Astray manga series we've seen Prayer Reverie do such things as communicate telepathically with other character and even continue to appear as a spirit after his death. I don't see how "spatial awareness" can possibly cover that. 71.203.209.0 22:40, 27 October 2006 (UTC)
Show your proof, if you said he said it in an interview, get the interview article. If you want my proof, [2] go to page 8, you can find a link to MS GUNDAM SEED DESTIINY on img075.jpg, the sentence I have quoted is exactly as above. On the same page, just right to that link, the link MOBILE SUIT FILE(publisher: Kondasha), 32.jpg, it says Developed at the same time as Justice and Freedom, Mobile built for Anti-MS combat equiped with DRAGOON(Disconnected Rapid Armament Group Overlook Operation Network) System. It is a very special equipment and cannot be used if the pilot do not have a very high spacial awareness. For back up link of the files, I have the following 1 2How spacial awareness can cover it is not my problem, wiki is not a place for original research, the fact is no official sources talked about their telepathy, not even the original series said anything about it. Yes, rumours has been spread that he said a lot of things, can your proof, find the interview article from a reliable source. Also, what the company always has more weight than the mere director. MythSearcher 02:49, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
You're making assumptions without basis. That is, that references to "spatial awareness" mean Newtypes don't exist, when the article actually makes no mention of Newtypes one way or the other. As for Fukuda's interview, here at Gunota Headlines:
"Q: Are Mwu and Raww Newtypes?
A: Both are the last remaining Newtypes. They were the last Newtypes in the world so I wanted to write a story where non-Newtype people try to solve the problem."
I think that's pretty conclusive, and unlike your article there's no assumption involves. As far as telepathy, there's a specific scene on page 131 of X Astray volume 2 where Prayer Reverie sends a message directly to Morgan Chevalier's mind. Again, this isn't original research, and unlike your argument it's not speculation. It's directly from primary source material (as opposed to a secondary source like a magazine article). 71.203.209.0 22:21, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
A blog is NOT a reliable source, AND the translation of Gunota Headlines said source have one big mistake, the said paragraph missed the last sentence stating This was the original plan. which renders the whole paragraph useless. If it was the original plan, then obviously they have changed it, if not, it will not be called the original plan. See Talk:Cosmic Era human enhancements for more details, I have the links linking to both of the pages there, and you can see that the Gunota Headlines made a huge mistake. MythSearcher 08:10, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] "Gundam" Pilots

Whoever made this section, what were you thinking? Aside from the fact that it clutters the article and produces redundant entries...the fact that it's put under the Three Ship Alliance is ridiculous given that more than half the characters listed under it never had any affiliation with the TSA whatsoever. 71.203.209.0 22:44, 27 October 2006 (UTC)

Yes, well maybe "Gundam" Pilots SHOULDN'T BE UNDER the TSA section, considering they're not the ONLY ones who pilot Gundams.

Really, I don't think we should have a "Gundam pilots" section at all. Just separating everybody by faction makes more sense. 71.203.209.0 22:22, 28 October 2006 (UTC)

Update: Ok, so after this old argument, the "Gundam" pilots section was deleted, because like the 2 arguments above, the TSA are not the only ones who have gundam pilots, and that seperating them by section alone is enough. WHO Was the "genius" who decided to put it back? Think before you edit people! The TSA are not the only ones with gundams!

  • The section certainly needs work, but deleting it means you have deleted Cagalli, Mu, Kira, and Athrun from page. It seems odd not to list such prominent characters at all.

[edit] Minor characters

Aisha, Sato, and Colonel Todaka aren't important enough to be given full names; yet they have their own pages. Shouldn't they just be merged onto this page? Edward321 06:10, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

I think that's a good idea. --Squilibob 12:43, 3 November 2006 (UTC)
Okay, marked those three as suggested for deletion. Edward321 17:30, 3 December 2006 (UTC)
... You do not have to mark them as AfD, just be bold and merge them per WP:FICT#being bold. MythSearchertalk 10:01, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Voice actors

They're listed on the main Gundam Seed and Seed Destiny pages. They're listed on individual character pages. Do they really need to be listed here, too? This page is already rather long. Edward321 06:10, 3 November 2006 (UTC)
