Right now I'm just making a list of the storms that effected florida...not sure if the storms that did not make a direct landfall should be included (with a few exceptions of course for hurricanes such as Ivan which should probably be included to to their impact) Anywho...All of the dates and intensity information is coming from Atlantic Tropical Storm Tracking by Year so it's just an approximation...so if possible the landfall information will need to be double checked against another source that might give specifics on landfalls. The locations are either from the breakpoint map put out by the NHC/TPC or just from my own knowledge of the area, which, dispite living in central FL for 10 years, isn't the best...anywho...I'll probably do upload these a decade at a timeDr Denim 13:55, 6 June 2006 (UTC)
- I'm not sure this is the best way to do it. Also, it should be List of Florida hurricanes. In my opinion, the article should be like this.
- 1) Intro
- 2) Frequency
- 3) Catastrophic Hurricanes (give a link to the Catastrophic hurricanes in Florida article)
- 4) List of every tropical cyclone impacting the state. Be sure to give some impact, too. The impact should only be related to Florida, though. Start by giving every last storm, and if it gets to be too many storms, then we can split it up later. Hurricanehink (talk) 15:19, 6 June 2006 (UTC)
- reformating will be the easy part...I figured the easiest way to go about it would be to list all of the storms that hit florida, then fill in the needed information and add the other sections...also is there a way I can change the article name without just copying the entire article to the new name and making a redirect or something to that from the current name? thanksDr Denim 15:31, 6 June 2006 (UTC)
Notes:
- Need to standardize the landfall reference cities and change one of the "south of the Steinhatchee River" landfalls to "near Yankeetown"
- Yea, all you have to do is use the move button on the top of the page. Hurricanehink (talk) 16:19, 6 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] June 18, 1959
RE: "June 18, 1959: The third storm of the season, which was unnamed, made landfall as a tropical depression over Tampa Bay and exited over Cape Canaveral." This tropical storm was unnamed as it passed thru Florida, but later became The 1959 Escuminac Hurricane (or Escuminac Disaster) when it struck land again in Canada. Not sure how you want to proceed.--207.38.180.82 07:46, 9 July 2006 (UTC)
- How about we break it up like we are about to break up my Canada page. List of Florida East Coast hurricanes, List of Florida West Coast hurricanes, List of Florida Panhandle and Big Bend hurricanes, List of Florida Keys hurricanes. Would that work? Make this a disambiguation page of sorts. →Cyclone1→ 02:39, 18 July 2006 (UTC)

- Maybe that could work, but would splitting up by time periods be better? Splitting up by area within a state might not be the best method, especially since many storms effected more than one area. Erin effected the East Coast, West Coast, and Florida Panhandle, for example. Hurricanehink (talk) 02:43, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
- Didn't think of that. Time periods could work. List of Florida hurricanes before 1851, List of Florida hurricanes: 1851-1900, List of Florida hurricanes: 1901-1950, List of Florida hurricanes: 1951-1999, List of Florida hurricanes: 2000- present. Then again, the first one wouldn't have that much information, would it? I just don't really like the current layout of the article. →Cyclone1→ 14:12, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] 1980 split
Alright, I have an idea that I think will work It will be like every other List of XXX hurricanes article, but this article will only list storms from 1980 to the present. The rest could be divided into one or likely more subpages. Hurricanehink (talk) 02:34, 7 November 2006 (UTC)
- I'd split it farther with 1980-1994 and 1995-present. After all, the list in Florida is extremely long... CrazyC83 18:51, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

- We'll see when it's finished. Hurricanehink (talk) 21:32, 28 January 2007 (UTC)
