[edit] Japanese Last Names

Are Japanese names traditionally listed Last-Name-First in print? In English when you print Last-Name-First it is customary to put a comma in between to make it clear. (Lastname, Firstname). Or am I missing some cross cultural thing about Japanese naming? I'm fairly certain that the friendly (first) names used in the English version are the second ones listed here.

That's odd. Wikiproject Anime's guidelines clearly say: "Characters' names should be given in western order." Maybe someone will explain why they are still in Japanese order (family name - given name). Gdo01 18:45, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
Sigh. I changed them all to 'FirstName LastName' a while back and someone with just an IP undid it all. Since then some people have added some good changes so I'm not going to bother again. If someone 'patrols' this article then maybe they can redo the names into proper format, or at least do 'LastName, FirstName'. Good luck.

[edit] Tasuku

I was just going through these articles and looking for character pictures to add, and I was wondering if Tasuku is shown at any point over the course of the anime. Blademaster313 00:00, 29 July 2006 (UTC)

  • I read in here somewhere that part of him appears in a picture that's 'never completely show' in the series. That's probably as good as it gets. -Litefantastic 01:38, 29 July 2006 (UTC)
The picture's in the first episode, inside the letter. The bottom of it is shown, with about half of his face (along with his American girlfriend). --Boss1000 05:45, 6 August 2006 (UTC)
  • I finaly found the picture, and put it in the article. Blademaster313 04:14, 10 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Improvements

In accordance with Litefantastic's suggestions on the discussion page for the main article, I added pictures for Ninamori and Canti. I also changed the picture of Mamimi, and if anyone liked the other better, feel free to change it. I am also the one who added the pictures of Atomsk, Naota, Amarao, and Miyaji a long time ago. Blademaster313 00:29, 29 July 2006 (UTC)

Thank you. Blademaster313 02:39, 29 July 2006 (UTC)

I removed the black lines from the sides of Haruko's picture. Blademaster313 21:23, 29 July 2006 (UTC)

Excellent! I say we concentrate our efforts on the "Items and Concepts" page now. I'm also trying to get FLCL upgraded to Good Article. -Litefantastic 23:28, 31 July 2006 (UTC)

I can't find it addressed anywhere (they're not the easiest Google search terms to work with), but is Haruko's style a reference to the British Mod style? And if it is, should it be mentioned? --Agivith 21:08, 13 August 2006 (UTC)

  • Is there any reference to Haruko and the mod style apart from her Vespa? I don't really see a strong connection. Blademaster313 22:11, 13 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] I can fly! I can fly!

I can't tell: it looks like Haruko can fly on her own (watch FLCLimax) - can she? -Litefantastic 22:22, 13 August 2006 (UTC)

She might be using her Guitar to propel her(ala Thor and his hammer), as it's established earlier that it is flight capable when she is shown riding on it. Hitmaker 23:18, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
The way she rides her guitar in Episode 5 implies that she's using it to fly - but it's equally likely that that is only a spoof of Daicon IV. At the end of Episode 6 she 'floats' away, without any obvious source of propulsion, as well as leaving her original Guitar behind.

[edit] Which is it?

I was reading through the bios and this caught my eye in Junko's bio: "...such as the destruction of her car(which happens every two episodes of the series) or the terrible..." And: "...like adults at all. Her car is smashed every three episodes."

I dont quite remember myself(I only recall the first time it happened) how many times it happened, so which statment is true? Hitmaker 23:33, 13 August 2006 (UTC)

  • Both statements are incorrect, but in different ways. Her car is smashed twice over the course of a six-episode series, but it's not implied to be a regular occurrence (like Kenny dying in every episode of South Park, or the return of a comet) - it's just something that happens twice, and happens to happen at regularly spaced intervals. -Litefantastic 18:49, 14 August 2006 (UTC)
Thanks, I made the neccessary fixes. Hitmaker 22:03, 14 August 2006 (UTC)
