[edit] Inconsistencies

This article refers too often to different names of the same characters, even in the same sentence, changing spellings and choosing between manga and anime versions. This reads as unprofessional, and to many, confusing. Can we have some sort of consensus as to which names to stick to and adjust this and other articles accordingly? Hatchan or Eight? Murasaki or Purple? Shenron or Shenlong? --Vincentvivi 20:04, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] General Tao

Can General Tao (Taopaipai) have his own article? If not, can I at least add videogame appearances to his section in this article? Buster Sword

[edit] Partial Humans

Gohan, Trunks, Goten, Bra, Pan, Goku Jr, and Vegeta Jr. are listed as Partial Saiyans on the Saiyans list, so why not as Partial Humans on this list? That is a good ideia.

[edit] grandpa gohan ???

How come grand par gohan was never seen in dragonball z after goku died you’d think he would visit his own grandfather now dose any one have any suggestions

Also why don’t gramps have his own article he was a pretty tough geezer and easily beat goku into the ground during there fight at baba's User:Kami-Sama

There are several possible reasons for Gohan disappearance:
A) He was dead before the series chronologically began. Not likely to be a principle hero later on.
B) Toriyama has a habit of forgetting characters. Oolong, originally a primary cast member, was relegated to comedic cameos. Lunch faded away. Even most of the human Z Senshi were relegated to third tier.
C) Gohan may still be working for Baba. He's dead, so probably limited to roaming her compound.
D) During the late Buu Saga, we are given a glimpse of Heaven. We also learn that souls are sometimes reincarnated, as with Uub. It is possible that Gohan is either enjoying his afterlife or was simply reincarnated.
E) Goku has never paid much attention to social graces. After the Cell Game, he preferred to stay in Anoyo and train rather than be resurrected and live with his family. At the end of Z, Bulma chews him out for not staying in touch. He's always been more concerned with fighting than anything else. (It's a wonder he was able to focus long enough to sire children.) Do you really think Goku would do out of his way to visit some poor old fart?

[edit] Bulma's Mother

There's a line in the part for Bulma's Mother which reads "Her first name is unknown, but according to most people her name is Bunny." I found this very unprofessional, and lacking sources, so I searched on google to see if it had any truth to it. I found a number of lines exactly the same as the one on wikipedia in other online encyclopedias. Then I looked further and found that apparently it's just a fanfic-made name. I'm making changes to the article to reflect this. Gregorz 17:41, 10 August 2006 (UTC)

You're being too kind; a fanfic name isn't even worth noting. She should be either referred to as "Bulma's Mother" like she is in the show's credits, or as Toriyama's unused name "Panchii". Evan1975 07:29, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Hasky character appears in the original Dragon Ball series

Hasky Can someone add info. here for Hasky? I'm too busy doing other stuff at this moment. Dragonball1986 18:27, 18 October 2006 (UTC)

Never mind, it's done. Dragonball1986 14:33, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] General Copper/Brown

Why does he keep getting deleted from the Red Ribbon section? Thanos6 17:04, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

Because a fellow Wikipedian named Nemu doesn't approve of this person's existence. If I recall, there was a General Kappa ("Copper") who commanded Colonel Silver in the beginning, and lead Captain Yellow and finally Violet in both the Dragon Ball manga and anime respectively. I replaced this character on the list and I shall watch who is the next one to remove it. —comment added by Power level (Dragon Ball)(t/c)

Actually Copper isn't Brown - Brown is another officer we know absolutely nothing about. Heck, he doesn't even have a rank, but he was mentioned in both the anime and the manga. Makes me wonder how many other officers didn't get a chance to show up. Eat Snow 01:36, 1 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Palace's name

Oops! I'm the one who added that recent bit. (My browser is being a pain with cookies and I didn't notice I wasn't signed in.) Evidence for the correction was included. I've only ever seen "Paris" in fansubs and we all know how trustworthy those are... 9_9 Son Goharotto 19:23, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Lime's Caretaker

"Lime's Caretaker" - Son Goku knows this guy, (I beleive his name is Lao actually) so he must be a Dragon Ball character. anybody have any ideas on this?

  • His name is Lao Chū. Apparently he's named after a type of Huangjiu drink, (老酒 lǎo jiǔ). Evan1975 07:10, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
  • Who are you guys talking about? That old guy who met Gohan during the Cell Games filler? Power level (Dragon Ball) 16:10, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Chaozu's humanity

I'm having serious doubt as to Chiaotzu being a human. He's classified as a Kyonshi ("Young Vampire") from what I remember about the japanese version. The vampire dolls in japanese culture have similar characteristic traits. I seriously don't think Chiaotzu is human. - Zarbon

Tenshinhan has 3 eyes, Krillin has no nose and Bulma has natural blue hair (purple in the manga), even though they are considered humans. Muchi 21:43, 1 March 2006 (UTC)
He does indeed look like a Kyonshi and he doesn't seem to age either. But the similarities seem to end there. He is never referred to as a Kyonshi in the Japanese version as far as I know. Evan1975 07:13, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Advisor Black's race

"Advisor Black is Commander Red's servant and the number two man in the entire Red Ribbon Army. He is of African-American origin". Is there any source to suport that Advisor Black was of American descent?

Advisor Black is black. There is no Africa or America in Dragon World, so he can't be African-American. He's a black guy and his name is "Black." That's the pun as Toriyama wrote it.
You have to understand that Japan is 99.9% ethnically homogenous. In their country, most non-Japanese are either Chinese or Korean; other Asians. The average Japanese person has little-to-no interaction with whites or blacks, Caucasians or Negroids, whatever you want to call them. They have some glaring racial stereotypes, by Western standards, and this is reflected in their media. Mr. Popo, for example, is stereotypically black, with midnight dark skin and thick red lips. You used to see that sort of thing in political cartoons during America's early history. That doesn't necessarily make Toriyama a racist.
However, I'll wager that this article was compiled predominantly by Americans, or at the least, English-speaking Caucasians. By comparison, we are socially wired to be politically correct. We're taught that saying "black" is insensitive, that we should acknowledge and honor another person's ethnic background. So while technically incorrect to say that Advisor Black is African-American, it's not necessarily 'wrong'. Whether that can or should be corrected is up to Wikipedia standards.Son Goharotto 16:27, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Commander Red

Considering he is a relatively important villain in Dragon Ball (the first half of the the manga), I would like Commaner Red to have his own article.Uglyguy2006 22:45, 23 December 2006 (UTC)Uglyguy2006 22:45, 23 December 2006 (UTC)

Request it or create it yourself. Remember to always be bold in updating pages. Power level (Dragon Ball) 16:03, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

If you do happen to create a page for him, I'll look at it, but I would like to see the Red Ribbon Army have its own page again. I don't know why it was deleted - they were a big part of Dragonball, and they never died. In Dragonball the army's headquarters was decimated, but a lot of soldiers survived, and even some officers did (most, like Yellow and Silver, were unconfirmed). In DBZ Gero brought the RRA back in the form of androids and cyborgs, and in DBGT there was Super 17. I remember there being a little blurb about the RRA's technology, too. [edit] shen

thumb|Shen1
thumb|Shen2

shall i use the first or second picture of shen?

He kind of looks better in the first one, (warrior stance) although the second one shows more of his face, my choice is the first one. -Dark Dragon Flame 03:23, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

He looks hilarious in the bottom pic. I say, have the bottom image stay. Also, make sure you place collands (:) right after the first two brackets of the wiki-linked images, k? This is so because "fair use" images aren't allowed to be shown on user pages or article talk pages. Don't ask me why, it's just something I've been told many times in the past. Must be a policy, I think. Power level (Dragon Ball) 21:35, 27 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Androids

While Android 17 and 18 are cybernetic and belong on this list, Androids 13, 14, 15, and 16 are all completely mechanical and should not be considered "Earthlings" {{subst:User:66.142.239.33|66.142.239.33}}

See WP:DBZ. Consensus was reached that the twelve lists would have to be combined into one or two lists, respectively. Power level (Dragon Ball) 21:35, 27 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Mai, Emperor Pilaf's Minion.

I was wondering why she isn't mentioned at all on this page? I believe she has played a mentionable enough role in the Dragonball series to deserve a spot, don't you think? (Also appeared in GT, if memory serves.)

[edit] Wrong

Son Gohan, Son Goten and Trunks are Earthlings (born in Earth), many times mentioned in the series as such and indeed genetically only 50% "foreign". --Taraborn 00:08, 6 April 2007 (UTC)

True they are Earthlings but do to them, Pan, Bra, Bulma's desendent, Vegeta jr, and Goku jr being part Saiyan too, they are added to the Saiyan list page. So having them on two lists of races does not really need to happen. Heat P 01:37, 6 April 2007 (UTC)
