[edit] Move

I have a comment regarding the title of this article. The title List of Chinese people, IMHO, has a bad connotation--almost big brotherish. Should there be a similar page called List of American people? And what constitutes who can be added to this page? If I was Chinese could I add myself? I motion to change the title to List of famous Chinese people if that is, in fact, what this page is intended to be. Lypheklub 02:21, 24 Aug 2003 (UTC)

The "people" in "Chinese People" is not capitalized (as you've moved it to until I changed it). The Chinese people are comprised of over 50 "peoples" (ethnicities): the Han, the Hui, the Mongols, the Manchus, and .....
It's strange that you said you wish to move to "...people", but instead moved it to "...People". A little consistency would be nice. :-)
And, don't blank what's in the Talk because you've done it. Say that you've done it. Just some Wiki-tips. :-) --Menchi 20:57, Aug 25, 2003 (UTC)

No, the common convention and naming convention tells us to leave out "famous". It's redundant. (See Wikipedia:Naming_conventions#Lists) --Jiang 02:38, 23 Dec 2003 (UTC)

No it's not! --Thores 06:59, 29 March 2006

I agree with User:Lypheklub. It seems to me that only Han Chinese are included in this article. It should be renamed as List of Han Chinese People. Edipedia 20:45, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

lists like these are usually based off of nationality. Non Han Chinese can be included too. --Jiang 03:47, 6 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Organization

Chen Duxiu died before the PRC was formed, yet he is listed under "People's Republic of China". It would seem silly to list him right before Chen Shui-bian though. The categories should be re-done to reflect this.--Jiang 08:59, 14 Feb 2004 (UTC)

I changed the header to Communist Party of China / PRC since I'm sure some people who occupy high positions in the CPC/PRC don't really believe in hardline Communist ideology and the heading makes things easier to organize. ☞spencer195 09:26, 18 Jul 2004 (UTC)
