Talk:List of Canadian Prime Ministers by religious affiliation
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Eliminated the "gay bashing" comment and the view that Harper views Canadians as the same as Americans. Really - I understand people have different political views, but that is no excuse to write potentially actionable stuff on here. Let's try and keep things civil. Esp. with respect to the "gay bashing" thing - holding a debate is not the same as bashing.
I must confess that I do not understand the designation of Dief as an "Evangelical" Baptist. Surely there's no other kind. Unless it means he's a Fellowship Baptist, in which case the link should be to Fellowship of Evangelical Baptist Churches in Canada. Carolynparrishfan 13:55, 5 December 2005 (UTC)
I added tallies of the religious affiliations and removed the reference to Diefenbaker as an "evangelical" Baptist. I also removed the comment about the unusualness of Pearson being the only representative of the United Church. Since the United Church of Canada didn't come into being until the 1920s, and since it was a union of Methodist, Congregational, and most Presbyterian congregations, one could not say whether any or all of his Methodist or Presbyterian predecessors might or might not have been affiliated with congregations or conferences that aligned themselves later with the UCC. Once again the "Evangelical" is back. What does that mean? Fellowship Baptist? Carolynparrishfan 05:45, 20 July 2006 (UTC)
Reverted an edit that linked the "lapsed" after Campbell's name to Lapsed Catholic. She was an Anglican. Carolynparrishfan 15:57, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
