[edit] San Pietro is not baroque

The article on Renaissance Architecture indicates that Saint Peter's Cathedral is High Rennaissance Architecture. The article on Baroque Architecture considers the cathedral as a precursor of baroque. Why would it the qualify for a list of baroque buildings, especially as (according to Wikipedia) the baroque was developed in the 17th century. May I please delete it from the baroque list without being considered a vandal?--Afil 20:52, 8 December 2006 (UTC)

When the Basilica was begun by Bramante in 1503, it was a centrally-planned High Renaissance structure. After Bramante's death, it was continued by Michelangelo, the nave was lengthened into a dramatic vista by Carlo Maderno, and the final result contains many eye-catching features of the Baroque, such as Bernini's baldacchino, and much Baroque sculpture, as well as the rich polychromy of the marble revetment. --Wetman 17:40, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
