[edit] Fair Use of Imagery
It is my understanding that "fair use" of photography, via Wikipedia standards, can allow the use of a copyrighted photograph if that image is discussed, either in detail or in passing, in an article. Is this correct or incorrect? If correct, the Vogue cover should not have been deleted in such a preemptory fashion and without discussion. Mowens35 12:15, 29 August 2006 (UTC)
- My misunderstanding, after more careful reading Wiki guidelines, which are as follows: Note: It is not acceptable to use images with this tag in the article of the person or persons depicted on the cover, unless used directly in connection with the publication of this image. Such usages will be removed. MY UNDERSTANDING IS NOW THAT: If the use of a Vogue cover is necessary to illustrate the Fonssagrives article, it would be best to use one that is of Fonssagrives's FIRST cover for Vogue, which could then be discussed in the article as her first of X number of appearances. Is this an acceptable understanding? Thoughts would be appreciated. Mowens35 12:23, 29 August 2006 (UTC)
- Is any of the 200+ covers specially notable? If so, is it being discussed? If so, is the discussion dificult to understand when the reader is not seeing the cover? If so, add the image. Please, note that changing the article text to make some random cover seem specially important degrades the article. Best regards, --Abu Badali 13:31, 29 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Extraordinary unsourced claims
Does any one plans to do a review to add sources to this article? I've asked for some references almost a month ago an nothing has changed. If no one cares, I plan to clean up this article from extraordinary unsourced claims like "no model has surpassed her number of Vogue magazine covers" and weasel words statements like "Many consider Fonssagrives to be the first supermodel". Thanks, --Abu Badali 03:06, 21 September 2006 (UTC)
- Ok, I've removed some of the unsourced claims, but there's still work to do in this article. --Abu badali (talk) 08:21, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
