List of universities in British Columbia

The province of British Columbia, Canada is home to the following public universities:
- Royal Roads University (Sooke)
- Simon Fraser University (Burnaby, Surrey, Vancouver)
- Thompson Rivers University (Kamloops), (merger of University College of the Cariboo and British Columbia Open University)
- University of British Columbia (Vancouver/University Endowment Lands, Kelowna)
- University of Northern British Columbia (Prince George)
- University of Victoria (Victoria)
The following institutions are private universities:
The following universities are not yet open:
- Quest University Canada (Squamish) will open in September 2007
- Fairleigh Dickinson University (Vancouver) will open in September 2007
The following universities were closed:
- Technical University of British Columbia (TechBC) (Surrey) had students between 1999 and 2002. It was merged with Simon Fraser University.
- Notre Dame University College was a small Roman Catholic liberal arts college based in Nelson BC that started in 1950. In 1977 in came under government control and was closed by the provincial government in 1984.
