List of universities and colleges in Israel

There are eight official universities in Israel. In addition, there are a few dozen colleges and other institutes of higher learning, as well as about a dozen foreign university extensions. All are academically supervised by the Council for Higher Education in Israel (CHEI).

All universities, except for the Weizmann Institute and the Open University, offer the full range of graduate and undergraduate degrees - bachelor, master and doctor. The Weizmann Institute does not offer bachelor's degrees, while the Open University does not give doctorate degrees.

Other institutes of higher-learning in Israel, that are accredited by CHEI to confer a bachelor's (and in some cases also a master's) degree, are called colleges (מכללות). There are also over twenty teacher training colleges or seminaries, most of which can award only a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree.
