Many of the diagonal roads in Washington, D.C., are named after U.S. states. Except for California and Ohio, every state provides the name for an avenue; California is a street, and Ohio is a drive. There is also a Columbia Road (for the District of Columbia) and a Puerto Rico Avenue.
