List of songs about drugs

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Contents

This list includes songs written about, or commonly associated with, psychoactive drugs.

Sometimes a singer or composer may say that a song that has been associated with drugs or drug culture is not actually about drugs. "Puff, the Magic Dragon" is an example of this situation. These songs are included, and the controversy surrounding them is noted on the list.

Songs are categorized by the type of drug they concern and listed alphabetically within each category.

The Other drugs section contains songs with nonspecific drug references, songs about less-commonly-referenced drugs, and songs referencing more than one drug.

Supposedly, the first letters of each of the words in the song title are intended to be an acronym for LSD ("L"ady "S"o "D"ivine).
This song has been widely considered to be about LSD since the song's release, but until recently band members maintained that the title's initials were a coincidence. [6] Paul McCartney now admits that the song is indeed about LSD. [7]
