- Abu: the monkey companion of Aladdin in Disney versions of the story.
- Action Hot Dog: Sidekick of Gerald Bald Z, from Perfect Hair Forever. He is intended to be a parody of the archetypal anime sidekick-creature (eg., Pikachu), and he does little more than float around and spew nonsense.
- Al Calavicci: Sidekick of Dr. Samuel Beckett on Quantum Leap. As a hologram, he guides Sam throughout his many adventures, or "leaps," by providing him with vital information such as probable mission objectives in the scenarios they come across.
- Alphonse Elric: Sidekick to his older brother, Edward Elric (AKA: the Fullmetal Alchemist) who aids him in battle and research.
- Anastasia: Sidekick to and daughter of Lady Tremaine from Cinderella
- Andre Grandier: Sidekick to Oscar de Jarjayes in The Rose of Versailles. A double rare case: male sidekick to female heroine, and also romantically involved with her.
- Anna Worthington: Sidekick and assistant to Jimmy Nixon McGarfield the 4th Grade President-for-life from Codename: Kids Next Door
- Archie Goodwin: Sidekick to detective Nero Wolfe, in mysteries by Rex Stout. Wisecracking Archie provides legwork for the grumpy, sedentary Wolfe. Much of the humor in the stories comes from the two giving each other a hard time.
- Arthur: Sidekick to The Tick. Arthur is a reluctant sidekick who wears a white body suit with wings, thus resembling a giant moth. He helps out his dense pal The Tick in numerous episodes of the comic book, cartoon series, and live-action show.
- Aqualad: sidekick to Aquaman and one of the founders to the original Teen Titans. Now known as Tempest
- Anguirus: enemy turned sidekick to Godzilla. His help to Godzilla in the original series is only rivaled by Rodan.
- Aphrodite A: Female Mecha. Sidekick of Mazinger Z.

- Baldrick (sometimes Sodoff Baldrick): Sidekick and whipping boy to Edmund Blackadder in the various Blackadder television series.
- Barnacleboy: Sidekick to Mermaidman on SpongeBob SquarePants.

- Bullwinkle the Moose: Sidekick to Rocket J. Squirrel. His boss, usually referred to as "Rocky", is the flying squirrel protagonist of the animated television series Rocky and His Friends and The Bullwinkle Show (both shows often referred to collectively as Rocky and Bullwinkle).
- Boss Borot: Giant Mecha and comic relief. Sidekick of Mazinger Z.

- Cadet ("The Eager, Young Space Cadet"): Sidekick to Duck Dodgers is uncompromisingly loyal and humble to Dodgers even during the most dangerous missions.
- Captain Arthur Hastings: Sidekick to Hercule Poirot, plays a similar role as Dr. Watson. An ex-military man, he's both romantic and unimaginative.
- Captain Haddock: Sidekick to Tintin in the comic book series The Adventures of Tintin. In stories without Haddock, the role of the sidekick can be attributed to Milou, Tintin's dog (known as Snowy in the English-language editions). The stories also feature two policemen, Dupont and Dupond (Thomson and Thompson), who can be seen as equal sidekicks to each other.
- Chase Edmunds: Jack Bauer's back up and sidekick in 24 season 3.
- Chewbacca: Han Solo's sidekick. Serves as his first mate on the Millennium Falcon.
- Chrono: Rosette Christopher's romantic interest and faithful companion in Chrono Crusade.
- Clank: Robotic sidekick to Ratchet in the Ratchet & Clank video game series.
- Clarabelle Cow: Played the role of sidekick to Bad Pete in Mickey, Donald & Goofy: The Three Musketeers.
- Clarin, the aging, wisecracking squire of Rosaura in Pedro Calderón de la Barca's La vida es sueño.
- Cleft the Boy Chin Wonder: Sidekick to the Crimson Chin.
- Cracker: Sidekick to Black Puma from Justice Squad
- Crane, the graceful: originally the sidekick of Captain Japan; upon his abduction by the Nereid, Crane is forced to seek out her cousin, Cairinini Aix/ DUCK-GIRL. Minmei-Ikari Tsuru, a strict elitist Japanese ninja was disgusted by her Americanized cousin 'Karen', but had promised their sifu, Master Wing, that they would work together to fight evil. Crane started with a patriotic costume with a red dot on the head of her white costume. When Karen became Duck-Girl, Crane changed her costume to a black and white motif. Crane is a goth with no interest in any other country than Japan.
- Crow: Sidekick to April Ryan and later, Zoë Castillo (The Longest Journey and Dreamfall).
- Crow: Bananaman's sidekick in the cartoon series.

- Da Shrimp: Sidekick to Lobster Mobster on The Little Mermaid.

- Diablo the Raven: Sidekick and pet of Maleficent in Sleeping Beauty.
- Diddy Kong: Sidekick to Donkey Kong in many of the Donkey Kong (series) video games including Donkey Kong Country and Donkey Kong Land.
- Dijon the Thief: Sidekick to Merlock the Sorcerer in DuckTales the Movie: Treasure of the Lost Lamp, and later Flintheart Glomgold on the series itself.

- Fabrizio De Rossi: Sidekick to Jack Dawson in Titanic. Fabrizio, an Italian immigrant, was Jack's best friend. He and Jack won two tickets in a poker game, and they managed to get on board the doomed ship shortly before she left.
- Fallout Boy: Sidekick of Radioactive Man
- Fatman: Sidekick to the super hero Mr.America

- General Disarray: Professor Chaos' partner in evil in the animation series South Park.
- GIR: Robot sidekick of Invader Zim.
- Gnasher: Dennis the Menace's dog, first appeared in The Beano issue 1363 dated 31 August 1968.
- Goose: Sidekick to Maverick (Top Gun).

- Jaken: The Kappa sidekick, retainer and servant of Sesshomaru. Known for his toad-like appearance, grumpy comments and undying devotion and loyalty to the dog demon.
- January & Karlene: Sidekicks to Nanette Manoir from Angela Anaconda
- Jimminy Cricket: Sidekick to and "official conscience" of Pinocchio in the Disney version of the story.
- Jimmy Olsen: Sidekick to Superman, especially when using the names Nightwing and Flamebird
- Jingles: Wild Bill Hickok's sidekick portrayed by Andy Devine in radio and television's The Adventures of Wild Bill Hickok, starring Guy Madison as Wild Bill.
- Jolly Jumper: Sidekick and mount of Lucky Luke. Jolly Jumper is an example of an animal as sidekick, which is not at all unusual, though in most cases the non-human sidekick is a dog (such as Milou in Tintin or Devil in The Phantom). Jolly Jumper is more of a parody of a sidekick, poking fun at the wonder horses of the Western genre, and his specific task in the series is to provide witty and cynical commentary. Some stories also feature Ran Tan Plan, who in turn is the parody of the super-intelligent dogs prevalent in adventure genre (such as Rin Tin Tin): he is possibly the most stupid canine in fiction.
- Jubilee: Unofficial sidekick of Wolverine.
- Jughead Jones: Sidekick to Archie Andrews.
- Jonathan Gray: Sidekick to Lewie 'The Shank' Procter.

- Karate: not very bright but strong and a martial arts expert, the sidekick of Batfink.
- Kato: Sidekick to The Green Hornet. Kato served as chauffeur and assistant to the Green Hornet. Because of Bruce Lee's appearance in the television series based on the character, this is one property where the key interest is more on the sidekick than the hero. In Hong Kong during the original series run, The Green Hornet was known as "The Kato Show".
- Kaz Harada: Sidekick and manager of Puffy AmiYumi in real life and animation.
- Kirstee & Kaycee (aka the Tweevils): Sidekicks to and fashion interns of Burdine Maxwell from Bratz (TV series)
- Kronk: Sidekick of Yzma in The Emperor's New Groove (and its TV spin-off, The Emperor's New School) who later starred in his own movie.
- Kid Flash: Sidekick to the Flash and founding member of the Teen Titans. Originally made by Wally West (later Flash) and later followed by Bart Allen
- Kid Devil: Edward Bloomberg, estranged sidekick to the Blue Devil and member of the Teen Titans
- KITT (Knight Industries Two Thousand). Sidekick to Michael Knight in Knight Rider.

- Andy Richter: former sidekick of Conan O'Brien on Late Night with Conan O'Brien.
- Roady: Sidekick to Soundman. He is the seemingly harmless and feeble, while indestructible, sidekick of Seattle's singing superhero, Soundman. As, Sound-Man is experienced and highly educated and talented, Roady is the opposite. But, he is very helpful with his Cosmic Toolbelt. Marsalis is the lead singer of the grunge band PearlGarden, as Jerome Santanna-Joplin is their bumbling and hilarious roady.
- Robin: Sidekick to Batman. He shows Batman's softer side. Batman, orphaned by criminals, takes on young Dick Grayson as his ward after his parents were killed by criminals. Batman trains Robin in crime-fighting. Dick eventually left to become his own hero, Nightwing. Since then, others have stepped in to fill the role of Robin: Jason Todd (formally deceased), Tim Drake (current) and Stephanie Brown (deceased).
- Rodan: Sidekick to Godzilla in the original series. His help to Godzilla was only rivaled by Anguirus' assistance.
- Ronald "Ron" Stoppable: Sidekick (and boyfriend) of Kim Possible on Kim Possible.
- Ron Weasley: Sidekick to Harry Potter. Ron was Harry's first friend and Harry considers him his "best friend in the world". While he commonly functions as the laid-back comic relief, he is fiercely loyal and will confront even his worst fears if he feels that is what must be done.
- Rupert Giles: Sidekick to Buffy Summers from Buffy the Vampire Slayer

- Sam Bolt: Sidekick to Honey West.
- Samwise Gamgee: Sidekick to Frodo Baggins in The Lord of the Rings. He followed Frodo across Middle-earth and into the darkness of Mordor with his undying loyalty and need to aid his friends.
- Sancho Panza: Sidekick to Don Quixote.
- Sandy the Golden Boy: Sidekick to the Golden Age Sandman, Sanderson Hawkins is now known as Sand.
- Scooter Lad: Sidekick and son of Chopper Daddy on Teamo Supremo.
- Scrappy-Doo: Sidekick to Scooby-Doo, whom he idolizes and aids in solving mysteries, especially in the Scooby-Doo and Scrappy TV series.
- Scrappy Mouse: Sidekick to Mighty Mouse on Mighty Mouse: The New Adventures
- Sergeant Dunder: Sidekick to Colonel Spigot on TaleSpin.
- Shego: Sidekick to Dr. Drakken on Kim Possible. Despite being the sidekick, Shego is generally dominant in their relationship.
- Sideshow Bob: Originally Krusty the Clown's TV sidekick, but turned villainous homicidal maniac. In The Simpsons.
- Sideshow Mel: Sidekick to Krusty the Clown on The Simpsons.
- Skeets: long suffering robotic assistant to the inept Booster Gold from DC Comics.
- Skye Blue: Summer Cummings' sidekick in various lesbian-based pornographic videos.
- Smee: a pirate, and Captain Hook's right-hand man.
- Waylon Smithers: loyal aide, advisor, confidant and secret admirer of Mr Burns in The Simpsons.
- Snarf: Lion-O's cat companion sidekick in Thundercats. Snarf's real name is Osbert.
- Snively Kintobor: Sidekick to Dr. Ivo Robotnik in the SatAM and Archie Comic storylines of Sonic the Hedgehog.
- Stripesy: Sidekick to the Star-Spangled Kid.Unique in that he's the only adult sidekick to a teenage superhero.
- Sparky & X-5: Sidekicks to Atomic Betty
- Speedy: sidekick to the Green Arrow. Currently, the identity is taken by Mia Dearden, the second Speedy. The first Speedy was Roy Harper who is now Arsenal.
- Stewie: Sidekick to Joe Balooka from Codename: Kids Next Door
- Stiletto Mafiosa: Dim-witted sidekick/henchcrow to villain Baron Silas Greenback on DangerMouse.
- Streaky the Supercat: Sidekick and comic relief to Krypto the Superdog.
- Stuff the Chinatown Kid: sidekick to the Golden Age Vigilante in DC Comics.

- Tatl: Link's faerie companion in The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask.
- Tim Scam: Sidekick to Terence 'Terry' Lewis from Totally Spies!
- Tinkerbell: Peter Pan's fairy companion.
- Tochiro Oyama: Typically shown as the sidekick to Space Pirate Captain Harlock but sometimes vice versa as in Gun Frontier.
- Torgo: Sidekick to the Master in the infamously low-budget film, Manos: The Hands of Fate. Torgo is not very loyal to his mentor or vice-versa.
- Tonto: Sidekick to The Lone Ranger. His name means "fool" in Spanish, although he was not foolish, for which his name was change to Toro (bull) in Spanish dubbings. Always described as the "faithful Indian companion", Tonto frequently served as a spy, going into town to find out what was going on.
- Toro: Sidekick to the original Human Torch.
- Tuffy: little, grey, diaper-wearing mouse sidekick/companion to Jerry Mouse in Tom and Jerry.
- Twitchy: crazy squirrel Sidekick of Wolf W. Wolf in Hoodwinked.

- Walt, Larry, and Igner: Sidekicks to and sons of Mom from Futurama
- Willie Garvin: Sidekick to Modesty Blaise. Garvin is notable as a male sidekick to a female hero, a setup less frequently encountered in adventure fiction. Most often, the sidekick is of the same sex than the hero, and for male heroes, a female companion more often serves as a romantic object rather than a sidekick.
