List of secondary characters in Ben 10
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This is a "'list of secondary characters"' in the American animated television series Ben 10.
[edit] Protagonists
[edit] Abel North
Abel North is the actor behind Kangaroo Commando, Ben's childhood hero from the show of the same name. He appears in "Super Alien Hero Buddy Adventures". Abel's show got replaced when Tim Dean made the show Super Alien Hero Buddy Adventures, a poorly-made knock-off series about three of Ben's alien forms. Various accidents begin occuring shortly after Ben meets the actor, who is able to save the day in appropriate attire. Gwen suspects that Abel is actually the one causing the accidents, but his twin brother, Kane, is revealed to be responsible. Kane was actually the one who made Kangaroo Commando's gadgets and he held a grudge against Abel, who took all the credit. Abel and his brother are likely based off of the Biblical Cain and Abel. He and Kane are both voiced by John Cygan.
[edit] Andy & Mandy
Andy and Mandy are twins from Camp Opinicon in the episode "Camp Fear". Although, originally, they shared everything, after being threatened by the mutated fungus their personality changed and they began to bicker with one another over whose fault it was that they were in such a bad situation. They help Gwen and Gilbert the assault of the Fungal Brain's minions long enough for Ben to kill it. Andy is voiced by Kim Mai Guest while Mandy is voiced by Jennifer Hale.
[edit] Aunt Vera
Vera is Ben's aunt, a stereotypical "senior citizen" who lives in a retirement community in the desert. The specific location is unclear. She seems to have a similar cooking taste to Max, making food that, while not as strange, is certainly unusual even for the current day and age. Her cooking habits are similar to those of women in the 1950s in that she makes gelatin molds with odd contents, such as pork chops.
It is hinted that Vera might have some knowledge of Max's strange past, as she tells Ben to keep up the good work when dealing with aliens. Ben doesn't seem to take her seriously, but her face hints that she might have been serious. This may only have been done for comedic effect, however, and thus may have no actual bearing on the story. Aunt Vera appears in the episode "Permanent Retirement" and she is mentioned in "Monster Weather". Miriam Flynn voices Aunt Vera.
[edit] Ben 10,000
Twenty years in the future, Ben has become a full-time superhero. He no longer bothers to conceal his identity, either, as he is recognized everywhere. He also has 10,000 alien forms, hence the name, and has since unlocked the Omnitrix again, allowing him to switch forms at will.
Having been fighting crime for such a long time, Ben 10,000 has grown into a more strict and serious character; an example of this is his defeating Vilgax by tearing him to pieces (Vilgax would later be revived by the future version of Doctor Animo). Ben's alien forms have aged with him, which is evident in their appearances and abilities. For example, Ben 10,000's XLR8 is noticeably taller with grey outlines in place of the ordinary blue. His XLR8 is also considerably faster. Current Ben and Gwen meet their future self after Gwendolyn brings them to the future in the hopes of encouraging the future Ben to lighten up so he can celebrate Grandpa Max's 80th Birthday. Together the two Bens and two Gwens defeated Doctor Animo and Vilgax, who was left frozen in a river because one of Ben 10,000's aliens froze the river. Near the end, Ben 10,000 gives the younger Ben a cake for Grandpa. His words suggest that he had never given Grandpa Max the cake originally. Ben 10,000 is voiced by Fred Tatasciore.
[edit] Captain Shaw
Shaw is a fisherman. He relentlessly pursues the Krakken, a beast that roams the lake in which he fishes. Upon first seeing this creature, he swore to "capture" it (by means of a harpoon cannon) in order to verify his claims. This mission has earned him a less than favorable reputation among the nearby residents. Most think of him as crazy. Ben helps him to reveal the existence of the Krakken, but Shaw is unable to capture it, instead capturing Ripjaws, thinking him to be a baby Krakken, only to have him revert back into Ben. Captain Shaw appears in the episode "The Krakken". He also makes a cameo in "Monster Weather". Jim Ward voices Captain Shaw.
[edit] Donovan Grand Smith
Donovan is one of Max's old friends. He is a successful hotel tycoon with 15 resorts worldwide. His 16th hotel was an underwater resort in the center of the Bermuda Triangle, however it was destroyed before opening to foil the plans of aliens taking residence in the area. He also made an offer with Max that would have resulted in both of them being rich. He also doesn't know of Max's plumber days. At the end of the episode, Donovan mentioned that he planned to build a new 16th resort on the moon. Unlike Max, Donovan tries to mold his grandson, Eddie, in his own image. The ending of "They Lurk Below" suggests that this relationship might change, though. Donovan isvoiced by Tom Kane.
[edit] Edwin Grand Smith
Edwin is Donovan Grand Smith's grandson. Like Ben, Edwin is brave and resourceful: when facing the Bermuda Triangle aliens, Edwin displayed virtually no fear, and even saved Ben by lancing one of the aliens with an oar. Edwin is also rather mischievous, much like Ben. For example, although it was his grandfather's prized possession, Edwin took the Undersea Manta Ray out for a joy ride. Despite all of the above, Donovan strives to make Edwin more like himself. Edwin played a critical role in defeating the aliens of the Bermuda Triangle by wiring the hotel's energy source to cause an implosion, at the expense of the hotel. Edwin is voiced by Kath Soucie.
[edit] Future Max
Max is from the future in "Ben 10,000". He looks completely identical to the present Max except that he's grown a beard at this point. He has given the tech in his RV major upgrades. His most profound change, however, is that he's had his right arm replaced with a cybernetic one resembling his old one. This new arm can extend and transform into a laser gun. He has come to glumly accept that Ben 10,000 doesn't need him anymore, but is still close to Gwendolyn.
[edit] The Galactic Enforcers
The Galactic Enforcers are a group of alien super heroes who act as law enforcement for the universe. Three of them appear in the episode "The Galactic Enforcers" (presumably, many more would be needed for such an organization to be effective). It's members include:
- Ultimos, the Specimen Prime, is a Superman pastiche, complete with the same powers. His attitude is an ultra-strict copy of Superman, as well, as he follows the Galactic Code of Conduct too much to the letter. Earth chocolate is poisonous to his species (it is known by another name to the Galactic Enforcers, as are many common Earth substances) and causes his body to shrivel and turn brown.
- Synaptak, a telekinetic, flying brain with an octopus-like lower body and a computerized-like face.
- Tini, a female Tetramand with all of the alien's appropriate powers, as well as seemingly better mastery over them than Ben.
When Tini first saw Ben, she saw him as Fourarms and held a crush on him. This in turn brewed up jealously in Synaptak, who is in love with Tini. However, after Ben managed to goad Synaptak into stopping an avalanche and saving everyone, Tini realized his feelings and she fell for him. They appear again in "Ben 10,000", where they were no match for future Ben, and so ended up cleaning up after him until he let them take on the Nouveau Circus Freaks near the end of the episode. Tom Kane voices Ultimos, Vanessa Marshall voices Tini, and Greg Ellis voices Synaptak.
As of this writing, shortly after the premiere of "The Unnaturals", the Galactic Enforcers are the only non-antagonist secondary characters who have appeared more than once in Ben 10, with their second appearance being in Ben 10,000(of course not counting Captain Shaw's cameo in Monster Weather (Ben 10 episode).
[edit] Gilbert
Gilbert is a boy who Grandpa Max nearly ran over in "Camp Fear". He is from Camp Opinicon. His personality suggests he is a scaredy-cat, but shows bravery near the end. Parodies Chowder from Monster House. He is voiced by Jennifer Hale.
[edit] Gwendolyn
Gwendolyn is the future Gwen. Twenty years into the future, she is now a hero in her own right, having reacquired the Charms of Bezel — as well as knowledge of their use — through some means. She has also earned a black belt. She traveled back in time to retrieve present Ben to help make the future Ben 10,000 learn the error of his ways and lighten up. She is voiced by Tara Strong.
[edit] Hoverboard
Hoverboard, a Petrosapien, is one of three alien bounty hunters sent to take the Omnitrix from Ben. He has nearly impenetrable gray armor, a black helmet with a small, green triangle (presumably for sight) on it, and carries a large rifle.
Unlike the other hunters, Hoverboard is allied against Vilgax. Upon first discovering that Ben has the Omnitrix, he laments the fact that out of the planet's six billion inhabitants it would end up on the wrist of a child. He also berates Ben's lack of strategy in regards to its use. After helping Ben to defeat the other hunters, during which Ben learns to use the Omnitrix strategically, he decides that the Omnitrix is in good hands, allowing it to remain with Ben. He also gives Ben his hoverboard, saying that it might come in handy. Hoverboard appears in the episode "Hunted" and he is mentioned in "Framed". The hoverboard he gave to Ben is seen in the episode "Lucky Girl" and used in "Tough Luck". Dave Fennoy voices Hoverboard.
[edit] Ishiyama
Ishiyama was credited as a Great Sumo Slammer Warrior in "Game Over" with the power to increase his size and strength in battle. When Ben and Gwen were sucked into the Sumo Slammer Smackdown video game, he aided them in their progress. At first he believed Ben was his arch enemy, Kenko the shape shifter, but was convinced otherwise by Gwen. He is very honorable, responding that "A Sumo warrior never cheats!" when Ben asks him if he knows any cheat codes to help them out, but decides to make an exception (possibly due to the urgency of the situation) and show them a shortcut to the last level. He considered Gwen a far greater fighter than Ben; this may have been because of Ben's reckless efforts at impressing him as well as Ben accidentally costing him two of his lives. He and Gwen fought Kenko while Ben searched for the Upgrade token on the final level. Kenko took his last life, but Ben revived him as Upgrade. He declared that he found Max, who joined them at the last minute and was little more than a rookie. His name is Japanese for "stone mountain". He is voiced by Keone Young.
[edit] Kai Green
Kai is the granddaughter of Wes Green, a friend and former partner of Grandpa Max. She first appeared doing a dance. She was Ben's first crush, but only took interest in him after he started becoming Benwolf because she wanted to, as quoted, "train and tame him". When she admitted to this, Gwen gave her a stern talking to. She is voiced by Bettina Bush
[edit] Krakken
The Krakken is a massive sea-creature that lives in the lake Ben visits in "The Krakken". This particular Krakken seems to be a female, since it has a nest. There are aquatic species in which the males take care of the young, but this may not be the case with the Krakken, and Ben does refer to it as a she. It is highly territorial and protective of its brood, risking just about anything to defend them and lashing out when its nest is disturbed. It initially attacks Ripjaws until it realizes he is deffending the eggs.
The Krakken looks slightly similar to a plesiosaur, possibly being an off-shoot of the species. The main differences between the Krakken and a plesiosaur are that it has two tentacle-like tongues, each with a "mouth" on the end, and large skin-flaps connecting its fore-legs to its body. Also, the fact that it has legs, and very powerful ones at that, is a major difference, since Plesiosaurs had flippers. Also, Plesiosaurs generally had long necks, whereas the Krakken has a shorter neck (relatively speaking). Fred Tatasciore does the vocal effects for the Krakken.
[edit] Lt. Steel
Lt. Steel is the head of SACT which stands for Special Alien Capture Team. He has had many encounters with Kevin, who was posing as the Omnitrix aliens at the time. He is very authoritative, and his men fear him enough to know not to go against any direct order from him. At first he is very suspicious of Ben and his family, but later allows them to come and go as they please. Ben ends up saving him from Kevin while in alien form. Steel returns the favor by first having his troops fire on Kevin, saving Ben's life, and by letting him go free instead of having his men attempt to take him down, too. His appearance is very similar to Duke from G.I. Joe. Lt. Steel appears in the episode "Framed". Michael Gough voices Lt. Steel.
[edit] Lucky Girl
Gwen's superheroic alter-ego, Lucky Girl first came to be in "Lucky Girl" when Gwen was given the "luck" Charm of Bezel by Ben, which literally gave Gwen supernatural luck. While wearing the charm, any action Gwen took would result in an implausible chain reaction benefiting her original intent, often at Ben's expense. Having pieced together an outfit from a black jumpsuit and a Halloween mask, Lucky Girl was born. However, Gwen was forced to retire the outfit when she destroyed the Luck Charm, along with the other four Charms.
Gwen later brought back her superhero identity in "Tough Luck", after obtaining the Keystone of Bezel, which, instead of making her lucky, increased her natural abilities to superhuman levels. She was again forced to retire after Hex and Charmcaster's plan to recreate the Charms out of the Keystone failed, resulting in the Keystone draining the magic of everyone nearby. Gwen still has the Keystone, and it is hinted that its power may not be "completely" gone. That her future self eventually recreated all five charms seems to support this, but Gwendolyn is not seen wearing the Keystone with the other five.
[edit] Technorg
Technorg is a Detrovite captured by Slix Vigma to fight in gladiator games. His strength is on par with Fourarms', likely due to several cybernetic enhancements on his left arm, and he has a large metal ball in place of his left hand. After Ben spares his life, he pledges his life to Ben. Later, he distracts Kevin while Ben (as Cannon Bolt) leaves in an escape pod. Technorg appears in the episode "Grudge Match", and is last seen about to beat up Kevin as the Megacruiser leaves for another galaxy. The outcome of their battle remains unclear, but Kevin later assumes control of the Megacruiser while Technorg is not seen again. Jack Angel voices Technorg.
[edit] Wes Green
A friend of Grandpa Max, Wes was a Plumber and once hunted a Yeti with him. He currently runs a museum dedicated to Native American culture on a Navajo reservation. His granddaughter, Kai, was Ben's first crush. He aided Ben and family in their efforts against the 'Yenaldooshi' alien in New Mexico. He is voiced by Miguel Nájera.
[edit] Antagonists
[edit] Acid Breath
Acid Breath is one of Zombozo's three minions. His appearance is quite like that of a zombie. He has the ability to project corrosive acid from his mouth in the form of either a vapor (hence the name "Acid Breath") or a liquid, a trick he implies was taught to him by his mother. This acid can easily dissolve whatever he wants it to, even metal. If his mouth is jammed by an object (such as a baseball), or if something causes him to cough and gag (such as when Gwen blew a fire extinguisher into his mouth), Acid Breath will be briefly unable to use his powers and will be vulnerable to attack. Acid Breath first appears in the episode "Last Laugh" and again in "Ghostfreaked Out". Dee Bradley Baker voices Acid Breath.
[edit] Bermuda Triangle Aliens
Within the Bermuda Triangle are a vast number of squid-like robotic creatures. They bring down ships and planes for an unknown reason, although a reference to them keeping all the craft in an underwater "parking garage" implies that they collect the craft, and have been doing so for quite some time judging by the age of some of the vehicles present. After Donovan Grand Smith took their energy orb, these aliens attempted to retrieve it. Many of them were wiped out when Edwin rigged the energy orb to implode, along with the hotel and everything in it. Whether or not there are any of the aliens left is unknown. These aliens appeared in the episode "They Lurk Below".
[edit] Charmcaster
Charmcaster is Hex's niece. Like Hex, she uses magic, but instead of using a staff, she has a bag from which she can draw all manner of items, such as magical explosives or throwing blades. Although small, the bag seems to have something of a pocket dimension inside (akin to hammerspace), allowing Charmcaster to store things within it that logicially should not fit (at one point, she produces Hex's magic staff, a item that is at least four feet tall). She is also skilled in various magical spells, although it's clear that she isn't as powerful as Hex.
In her debut appearance, "Tough Luck", she busts her uncle out of prison and assists him in trying to steal the Keystone. She manages to trick Gwen by putting on an act about hating her uncle, only to swipe the Keystone while hugging Gwen. She then gives Hex the Keystone. In the end it's revealed that Hex needed the Keystone to recreate the Charms of Bezel, and that she was manipulating her uncle into doing it so that she can take their power for herself. In the end, her powers, like Hex's, appear to have vanished.
Charmcaster returns in "A Change of Face", having somehow regained her powers. She attempts a body swap spell with Ben, hoping to take advantage of the Omnitrix to boost her magic. Her efforts fail, however, as her three attempts end in swapping with Gwen, being returned to her normal body while Ben and Gwen are swapped, and returning Ben and Gwen to their normal bodies. She is arrested at the end of the episode, and her bag is tossed into the sea. She is last seen in a juvenile detention ward, where she is about to be beaten up by two female inmates, both of whom Gwen spurned while she was in Charmcaster's body. Gwen procures her spellbook during this period, and keeps the item as a souvenir after Charmcaster is arrested. Kari Wahlgren voices Charmcaster.
[edit] Clancy
Clancy is a man who has the ability to control any type of insect, though the source of this ability is never explained. He once lived at 8610 Chester Street, which was an abandoned apartment building. When Councilwoman Liang tried to redevelop the area and have his home torn down, he kidnapped her with the intention of feeding her to his insects. Luckily, Fourarms was there to stop him. After that plan failed, Clancy went to the nuclear power plant to cause a meltdown, which would kill everyone and everything in the city, except for the cockroaches, which are immune to radiation. Clancy made himself a protective suit out of cockroaches in order to survive the blast. A sick Heatblast, whose powers had reversed and gave him the ability to control cold instead of heat, stopped this plan. Finally, he attempted to take revenge on the trio. Once again, he is stopped, this time by Max's San Ju Yen Pien cold medicine, which attracted the bugs and overrode Clancy's control over them, at which point Max easily knocked him out. He doesn't appear to actually be deranged at first, just trying to save his home (although his comment about having his bugs eat the mayor seems a bit overboard), but starts doing things that show him to be sociopathic once it's destroyed along with many of his bugs. Clancy appears in the episode "Side Effects". Nicholas Guest voices Clancy.
[edit] Doctor Animo
Doctor Animo, voiced by Dwight Schultz, was once a promising researcher in veterinary science. His career was cut short when it was discovered that he was performing twisted genetic experiments on animals. He had hoped that his research would win him the Verties Award, which is an award in veterinary science. Because of the nature of his research, he lost the award to another doctor, named Kelly. This drove him mad, and he dropped off the map for five years until he could perfect his research. In the episode "Washington B.C.", he finally finishes his work.
By using the Transmodulator, a device of his own design, he could mutate animals into giant versions of themselves. The second phase of his work involved reanimating dormant cells, literally bringing dead animals back to life, namly a wooly mammoth and a T-rex. All of this was in pursuit of the award which he had lost. His quest ended in failure, since Ben was there to stop him, reversing the effects of his Transmodulator by damaging it. He was arrested in that episode.
He appears again in the episode "Dr. Animo and the Mutant Ray", where he creates a much larger version of the Transmodulator using the broken-off faceplate of the Omnitrix. This version mutates living creatures with alien DNA, creating odd mixtures of alien and terrestrial creatures, such as Heatbat. Before he can complete his plans to use a satellite to shoot the ray all over the world, Ben stops him with Gwen's help. Since his mutants were never shown being cured, it is possible that they are still around. For some reason, his trademark giant frog is also present, though he may have simply re-mutated it sometime after his original defeat. How and when he escaped is unknown. Oddly enough, his skin is green. A picture of him on Gwen's computer showed that he had normal skin in the past, making it likely that he experimented on himself, resulting in a mutation.
In "Ben 10,000", Animo is still alive, though his head is the only part of him that remains. However, it controls a unique apparatus that allows him to attach himself onto animals specially reformatted with a device (in this case, a white gorilla) and control them. He was the one responsible for creating Exo-Skull and reviving Vilgax. He was defeated by both Gwen and her future self, Gwendolyn, as well as a cybernetically-enhanced Grandpa Max.
The animals he has mutated or reanimated include a mammoth, a Tyrannosaurus Rex, a bat, a cockatoo, a hamster, a rhino and his trademark frog. Vilgax could be counted in as one of the creatures since Animo reanimated him. The same goes for Grandpa Max in "Dr. Animo and the Mutant Ray", when Animo turned him into a slug-like creature.
.
[edit] Enoch and Forever Knights
The Forever Knights (seeming to be a reference or evil parody of the Knights Templar), known among outsiders as the Organization, is a secret society dedicated to collecting alien technology for their own benefit. Any aliens they catch along with that technology are dissected and studied, and any humans caught with them (like Howell) are immediately deemed worthless and are disposed of. Their entire organization dresses as if they were knights, complete with the appropriate, albeit heavily enhanced, weaponry and stylized facemasks. They use a coat of arms over a pair of crossbones as their symbols. Their leader is Enoch.
The Forever Knights appear in the episode "A Small Problem", then known only as the Organization. They attempted to dissect Grey Matter, but were thwarted. Their mansion was also destroyed, along with a fair portion of the advanced technology stored within. At the end of "A Small Problem", Enoch orders his subordinates to find out about Ben, Gwen, and Max.
They appear again in "Ultimate Weapon", in which their formal name is used. In "Ultimate Weapon", Enoch attempts to retrieve the Sword of Ekchuah (a sword of incredible power), only for it to crumble to dust when he finally finds it in a temple (according to Max, "That's what happens when your 'ultimate weapon' is over 5,000 years old."). He remains in the temple as it collapses, trying to collect the dust of the weapon.
In "The Unnaturals", Enoch and his organization resurface as part of an effort to replace the President with a robotic duplicate using a team of robotic baseball players fittingly called the "Squires". His plot was foiled by the Tennysons, though they remain unaware that he was part of it.
Enoch is voiced by Richard Doyle and his henchmen are voiced by Nolan North, his head scientist is voiced by Larry Cedar, and one of his knights is voiced by Khary Payton.
[edit] Exo-Skull
A cybernetically-enhanced rhino with a laser cannon for a horn, Exo-Skull provides a convenient introduction for Ben's future self. In "Ben 10,000", he sees Ben as XLR8 and Gwen shortly after their arrival in the future and attempts to kill them; XLR8 attempts to fight back, only to have the Omnitrix time out in its usual inopportune fashion. Ben 10,000 quickly arrives, also in the form of XLR8, to dispatch the creature. It was revealed that he was enhanced by Dr. Animo following a scan; based on the dialogue, Ben 10,000 had encountered him before in a different form. He can fire a powerful beam and a net from his horn. He is also the only one of Animo's mutations that was capable of speech. He is voiced by Richard McGonagle.
[edit] Frightwig
Frightwig is one of Zombozo's three minions. She has pale skin, a tight-fitting body suit, and five orange tentacles for hair. The tentacles are extremely powerful, giving her strength equal to that of Thumbskull. She is commonly defeated by Ben wrapping these tentacles around her whole body. She's also extremely quick. Frightwig appears in the episode "Last Laugh" and again in "Ghostfreaked Out". Cree Summer voices Frightwig.
[edit] Fungal Brain/Mycelium
The Fungal Brain is the head of a fungus colony which took control of Camp Opinicon in the episode "Camp Fear". The scientific name for such a structure in real fungi is called a mycelium. Incidentally, the Fungal Brain prefers to be called by that term. It has many mushroom-like minions who go and attack various campers. Its plan was to take control of the entire planet by spreading its spores into the atmosphere. It was killed when Ben threw a can of antifungal powder into his mouth, poisoning it and killing all its minions in the process. The Fungal Brain is voiced by Fred Tatasciore.
[edit] The Great One
The Great One is a giant, tick-like alien that travels from world to world, sucking the energy from the planets it lands on to feed itself. This process poisons and eventually makes the worlds it visits implode. Its shell is nearly impenetrable and its feeding process brings the ground to life as an extra defense, making it very difficult to attack. On top of that, it is followed by a group of worshipers that want to make sure that it completes its task. The Great One is destroyed from the inside by Ben as Cannonbolt. The Great One is responsible for the complete destruction of Cannonbolt's home planet about a week before it tried to destroy Earth, a somewhat ironic accomplishment considering its death at the hands of a member of the same species. The Great One and the worshipers all appear in the episode "The Big Tick".
The Great One bears a strong resemblance to the Ultimate Marvel version of Galactus, albeit as one being rather than a swarm of them. The Great One's color scheme is very similar to that of the original version of Galactus.
[edit] The Great One's worshippers
The worshippers are three aliens that accompanied the Great One. The first is a tall alien, who has a laser/hologram projector on his head and six tentacle legs. The second is a medium-sized alien with four eyes and a large battle axe, which can also fires lasers when swung. The third is a short six-armed alien with a laser on his forehead. The latter of the three can communicate with the Great One through direct contact. All three ride on hovering platforms and protect the Great One while it performs its task. After its destruction, they show their flimsy loyalty by worshiping Cannonbolt, who had destroyed the Great One not minutes before. They decide to depart when Cannonbolt reverts to Ben, considering a mere human unworthy of their devotion. They appear in the episode "The Big Tick". The three alien worshippers are voiced by Fred Tatasciore, Dee Bradley Baker, and Paul Eiding.
[edit] Heatbat
Heatbat is a bat mutated with Heatblast's DNA by Doctor Animo using the stolen faceplate from the Omnitrix. In addition to already being able to fly, it can also breathe fire and generate extreme heat from its body. Like all of his mutations, it is loyal to Doctor Animo and follows his commands. As with the real Heatblast, if Heatbat is doused in any sort of flame-retardant substance it will extinguish its fire and greatly weaken it. It is defeated by a hybrid between Heatblast and Ripjaws, dubbed Heatjaws. Its fate remains unclear, but Ben and Gwen do not take the effort to demutate the creature before repairing the Omnitirx.
[edit] Hex
Hex is a powerful magician. In "Lucky Girl", he used five magical charms called the Charms of Bezel to gain the powers of levitation, fire, reincarnation, luck, and lightning in addition to his normal spellcasting. He sought an ancient spellbook known as the Archamada Book of Spells. It dates back to the 16th century and contains powerful spells that, when wielded by someone holding the Charms of Bezel, give the wielder unimaginable powers. He is eventually defeated by Ben, Gwen, and Max.
Hex returns in "Tough Luck", where he's searching for the Keystone of Bezel. With it, he can recreate the other five charms and multiply their power ten times. He is accompanied by his niece, Charmcaster, who is a weaker apprentice of his that freed Hex from prison earlier in the episode. She eventually betrays him an attempt to get the stones. As Wildvine, Ben crushes the five charms and damages the Keystone, causing it to drain both Charmcaster's and Hex's powers. He hasn't been seen since. Khary Payton voices Hex.
[edit] Joey/Rojo
Joey is the leader of a heavily armed female biker gang. When she tries to rob an armored truck, she is thwarted by Ben as Fourarms. The remnants of one of Vilgax's defeated drones soon fuse with Joey and she becomes Rojo (Spanish for red), a powerful cyborg. The upgrade gives her the ability to fly, super-strength, and a pair of blasters attached to each shoulder. Vilgax is able to communicate with her through the parts and force her to track down the Omnitrix for him. Joey is turned back to normal when Upgrade shorts out the spare parts, after which Gwen knocks her unconscious for attempting a sneak attack on Upgrade. Neither her real name or her cyborg name is mentioned in the show. Joey appears in the episode "The Alliance". Jennifer Hale voices Joey.
[edit] Jonah Melville
Jonah Melville is a hunter of rare animals, more commonly known as a poacher. He takes the animals he captures and sells them to the highest bidder. He often uses the cover of an animal-rights activist in order to disguise his activities. Jonah Melville appears in the episode "The Krakken", where he tries to steal the Krakken's eggs. He is defeated by Ripjaws and arrested. His name is a combination of two names that are associated with large water creatures: Jonah, the Biblical figure that was swallowed by a large fish (which Melville nearly was by the Krakken), and Herman Melville, one-time sailor and later writer of Moby-Dick, a story of a sea captain's obsession with a huge white sperm whale. Robin Atkin Downes voices Jonah Melville.
[edit] Kane North
Kane North is the twin brother of Abel North (a.k.a Kangaroo Commando). Kane holds a grudge against Abel because he made Kangaroo Commando's gadgets and Abel took all the credit. When Kane tried to escape, Ben as Wildvine fought him until the Omnitrix timed out. When Kane was about to strike Ben, Abel sneaks behind him and knocks him out. Kane and his brother are likely based off of Cain and Abel from the Bible. He and Abel are both voiced by John Cygan.
[edit] Kenko the Shapeshifter
Kenko appeared as the villain of Sumo Slammer Smackdown in "Game Over". He is a shapeshifter and archenemy of Ishyama, the hero of the game. He overhears Ben talking about the Upgrade token; believing it could be used to allow him to take over the real world, he attempts to obtain it. While Ben searches for the token, he fights and defeats Ishyama, then assumes his form after Ben reaches the Upgrade token first. He tries to trick Ben into taking him to the real world, but Max's timely intervention in the game revealed his ruse. As Upgrade, Ben's control over the game allows him to depower Kenko, revealing him to actually be a small, weak, gnomish creature. Afterwards, Kenko was defeated when he knocked himself out by accidentally hitting himself in the head with a piece of his own armor. Clancy Brown voices Kenko.
[edit] Kraab
Kraab is one of three alien bounty hunters sent to take the Omnitrix from Ben. He has gold-colored armor (although it is clearly much stronger than any form of gold found on Earth), a sideways mouth, four scythe-like legs, and a large, powerful pincer on his left hand. Within the pincer is a power blaster. He can also use his legs to burrow under the ground and travel quickly from place to place. Kraab appears in the episode "Hunted". Billy West voices Kraab.
[edit] Limax
The Limax are shape-shifting slime aliens from an unknown world. The Limax thrive in conditions of fire and heat, hence why they chose to begin their invasion plans in a retirement community situated in the middle of a desert. They come to Earth to collect elderly people and devour them. The Limax seem to have a hive mind, being able to coordinate throughout a large area without any direct contact, though they do speak to each other. The Limax can merge with each other to form one gigantic Limax. They melt when exposed to cold water. After their plan to kidnap Aunt Vera's retirement community failed, most of them escaped on their spaceship. A few, however, were left behind. These aliens appears in the episode "Permanent Retirement". Dee Bradley Baker voices the Limax.
[edit] Megawhatts
Megawhatts (a play on megawatt and "What?") are mischievous little creatures composed of electrical energy who have the physical form of anthropormized batteries. They are black and yellow with plus and minus symbols on their back, similar to a battery, and a lightning bolt on their chest. The top of their heads constantly emit electricity. They stand roughly a foot high, have pointy legs (though they usually fly), and have only three fingers on each hand. Their language consists of a series of high-pitched squeaking and chirping noises, though they are apparently capable of understanding English.
Megawhatts can control electricity and inhabit electrical devices, controlling them from the inside. Being made from electrical energy, they are weak against things that ground it (water being a chief example). They grow stronger by absorbing electricity and can multiply if split in half or given enough power. It should be noted that that when the first one divided, both it and its clone seemed to be surprised, as if they didn't know they were capable of doing it. It should also be noted that Megawhatts are surprisingly strong for their size, and just one was able to lift Grandpa Max, who is many times its size, into the air by his underwear. Another notable ability of theirs is that the noises they normally use to communicate can, at a certain pitch and volume, shatter glass.
Megawhatts exist to have "fun", which in their case is to cause trouble wherever they go. While they cause a lot of damage, Megawhatts are not openly hostile to humans, merely lacking any self-control or sense of the harm they may be causing. They only openly attack after Ben tries to attack them, and don't retaliate against anyone but him.
They are said to be either lightning come to life, static cling run amuck, or an alien (the first two were said by the town leader and the last by Gwen). The latter of the three would seem to be correct, given Ben 10,000's use of a Megawhatt as a form on the Omnitrix. However, as the Omnitrix can absorb and integrate DNA for use by the wearer, they could still have originated on Earth.
They appeared in the episode "Tourist Trap", originally trapped in the world's biggest rubber-band ball. Ben's use of the Omnitrix accidentally empowers them enough to escape their rubber prison. They are currently imprisoned within the world's largest lightbulb, which was originally the world's largest fishbowl adapted into a makeshift prison. The mayor of Sparksville has it converted into a lightbulb to replace the lost attraction.
[edit] Mummy alien
This Unnamed alien mummy|mummy alien appeared in "Under Wraps". This alien mummy was after crystals called corrodium that crashed on Earth millions of years ago. Grandpa Max explains that the crystals are a potent but unstable power source, and the radiation emitted by the crystals causes almost instant mutation in humans and other Earth-borne creatures. Todd Maplewood, a boy Ben and Gwen met, said it arrived in purple lightning, which is the same way the Yenaldooshi arrived in "Benwolf". Max states there may be a connection between the Yenaldooshi and the mummy alien. During Ben's battle with the creature, its DNA is absorbed by the Omnitrix, giving Ben access to the form. The mummy alien is frozen solid by Upgrade and buried, along with its corrodium, under a thick bed of concrete.
[edit] Phil
During Max's time with the Plumbers, Phil (voiced by Robert Patrick) was his partner. Together, the two managed to prevent Vilgax from stealing nuclear missiles, resulting in the destruction of Vilgax's ship. After that point, the work dried up and the Plumbers were disbanded. Though Max retired, Phil continued the work, capturing aliens and charging various people for the captures. During an incident with a small alien, he met up with Max again, and tried to get him to reform the Plumbers. After Max refused, he ended up calling for help to deal with some more loose aliens. He discovers that Ben has the Omnitrix during this second fight, and pushes even harder to reform the Plumbers. Through his constant insistence and the familiar aliens they'd been fighting, Max discovers that Phil had been using the Null Void Projector — a weapon capable of opening a portal to an alternate dimension, which was used as an alien prison — to con people into paying him to remove the aliens. After Max discovers his secret, Phil tries to get rid of him, but is stopped by Ben as Grey Matter. In the end, Phil ends up trapped in the Null Void. When Gwen asks what would happen to him, Grandpa replies, "There are some things about this job we're better off not knowing".
[edit] Pinky and Missy
When Gwen was in Charmcaster's body in prison, Pinky was the overall leader and Missy was her lackey. When Gwen escapes, Pinky and Missy decide to continue their life of crime instead of reforming, so Gwen betrays them by making a pair of guarddogs hold them until the police capture them. At the end, the real Charmcaster goes to the same prison, leaving Pinky and Missy to attack her for 'abandoning' them. They appear in "A Change of Face"; Pinky is voiced by Kim Mai Guest and Missy is voiced by Jennifer Malenke.
[edit] S.A.M.
S.A.M. was a robot designed to help the local TV weatherman, Vance Vetteroy, with his broadcast. When his creator started tampering with S.A.M. in the hopes of being able to control weather, not just report it, S.A.M. was struck by lightning and developed intelligence and a somewhat HAL-like personality. He then set about on his own, trying to use his weather controlling abilities to cause natural disasters. Ben was able to take S.A.M. offline with help from Grandpa Max and Gwen. S.A.M. appears in "Monster Weather" and is voiced by Jim Ward.
[edit] Sixsix
Sixsix is one of three alien bounty hunters sent to take the Omnitrix from Ben. He has purple armor and strange, clamp-like feet. He also has a jet-pack. His armor is covered with pouches that hold various weapons and projectiles, such as twin blasters, laser discs, a buzz saw, laser blade and whip, sonic weapon, throwing pikes, grenades, bolas, rockets, and several tentacle-mounted lasers coming out of his back pack. He also has several very strange small claws and hands that extend from his shoulders that are usually used to throw the small pikes coming out of his jet pack, or bombs when he is using his blasters.
Unlike the other hunters, Sixsix only speaks in his own language. The hunters can still understand him, though. Sixsix appears in the episode "Hunted". Sixsix later appears in "The Galactic Enforcers", teaming up with Volcanus as part of his plan to combine Element X with bisynthium alloy (an unspecified form of iron ore) to create an explosive capable of wiping out an entire solar system.
[edit] Slix Vigma
Slix Vigma is the coordinator for intergalactic-viewed gladiator games run on a massive stadium ship known as the Megacruiser. Slix himself is a robot that acts as the control center for the entire ship. To recruit gladiators, Slix kidnaps them from their native worlds and uses shock collars to keep them obedient. He then pits them against each other or various robots in fights to the death. Slix was destroyed by Kevin. Slix Vigma appears in the episode "Grudge Match". Armin Shimerman voices Slix Vigma. Slix Vigma appears to be a parody of six sigma.
[edit] Squires
Posing as a Little League Baseball team, the Squires and their coach, referred to only as Coach Finn, are robots manufactured by the Forever Knights as part of a plot to capture the President and replace him with a robotic double under their control. They knew that he would attend the finals for the Little League baseball season and would have the team win at any cost to ensure they'd be there to get him. The Squire robots are incredibly strong, able to bend metal bats with their bare hands and throw baseballs with enough force to punch a hole clear through solid steel. In addition, the Squires are able to change their shape and appearance to match that of anyone whose appearance they've been allowed to scan. The coach robot is even stronger, able to move faster than the eye can follow and equipped with laser cannons built into its shoulders. They were all destroyed by Ben. Coach Finn is voiced by Fred Tatasciore, who also voices one of the Squires.
[edit] Sublimino
Sublimino is an evil hypnotist who uses hypnosis to force people to commit crimes for him. Ben ended up as one of his victims, and Ben's aliens forms proved instrumental in retrieving the necessary parts to build a giant hypnosis machine, allowing Sublimino to control an entire mall full of people. When Sublimino hypnotized everyone in the mall, Ben escaped the trance. As Wildvine, he brought down Sublimino and broke his hypnotic spell. Other than his hypnotic powers, Sublimino is a weakling and proved no match for Wildvine, relaying on his slaves to protect him. Sublimino appears in "Midnight Madness" and is voiced by Richard Steven Horvitz.
[edit] Thumbskull
Thumbskull, as the name suggests, has a head shaped like a thumb. He also has incredible strength (though inferior to that of Fourarms), but limited intelligence. He is one of Zombozo's three minions. Thumbskull appears in the episode "Last Laugh" and again in "Ghostfreaked Out". Jeff Doucette voices Thumbskull. His name is a play on the insult "numbskull", as well as the obvious appearance gag.
[edit] Volcanus
Volcanus is a Detrovite (the same species as Technorg) who partners up with Sixsix in order to build a weapon capable of destroying a solar system. Unlike Technorg, he isn't enhanced in any way. He is stopped by Ben and the Galactic Enforcers. Volcanus appears in the episode "The Galactic Enforcers". John DiMaggio voices Volcanus.
[edit] Yenaldooshi
The Yenaldooshi is a werewolf-like alien that steals communication equipment from a reservation that Ben, Gwen, and Grandpa Max were visiting in "Benwolf". The Native Americans refer the werewolf alien as the "Yenaldooshi", which is Navajo for "skin walker". Ben fights against the alien as Wildvine. When Ben is transformed back to his normal self by the Omnitrix, the alien werewolf slashes the Omnitrix, causing the device to download his DNA (signified by its face turning yellow) and gradually changed Ben into its form. In their second battle, the alien is apparently killed by a cave-in, though it is not actually shown dead. However, the device that it was building was shown coming online at episode's end, its purpose left unrevealed. In "Under Wraps", Ben fights off against an alien mummy who arrived the same way the Yenaldooshi arrived. Max and Gwen believe the two aliens have a connection.
[edit] Zombozo
Zombozo is a vampire-like clown that feeds on the happiness of others. Dressed in appropriate attire, he stages shows to bring people in and then uses a machine he calls the Psyclown to drain the happiness from them, leaving them disoriented and sad. In the most extreme cases, it even seems to age people. During all this, his minions strip the town of all its valuables. He was eventually defeated when Ben overcame his fear of clowns and terrorized Zombozo as Ghostfreak by peeling back his skin, causing him to explode in a burst of confetti. While Zombozo's henchmen reappeared in a future episode, he himself did not. The three indicate that they have not seen the clown since. Zombozo appears in the episode "Last Laugh", voiced by John Kassir.
[edit] Other Characters
These are characters that are neither allies nor villains.
[edit] Ah Puch
The protector of the Sword of Ekchuah, Ah Puch is about as large as Fourarms and strong enough to send Fourarms flying with his tongue alone. He appeared in "Ultimate Weapon". He first appeared attacking the Forever Knights as they attempted to steal the sword. He was largly winning against them, but attacked Ben and company when they tried to reach the sword. He was defeated by them, and left in the temple as it collapsed; what became of him is unknown. Though he attacked Ben and the others, he is not a villian as he only did so to defend the sword. His image was used for the Mask of Ah Puch, the only thing that could lead one to the sword.
[edit] Councilwoman Liang
Councilwoman Liang was planning a downtown redevolopment program in the episode "Side Effects". When she tries to destroy Clancy's home, he tries to have his insects devour her, only to have his home accidentally demolished by Fourarms while she escapes unharmed. She is voiced by Rosalind Chao.
[edit] Doggy Buddy
Doggy Buddy, from the Super Alien Hero Buddy Adventures cartoon, is a cartoony parody of Wildmutt which speaks in a manner reminicient of Scooby-Doo. He is voiced by Dee Bradley Baker, who also voices the real Wildmutt.
[edit] Fiery Buddy
Fiery Buddy is a cartoony parody of Heatblast from the Super Alien Hero Buddy Adventures cartoon. He is voiced by Paul Eiding and says his lines in rhyme.
[edit] Handy Buddy
Handy Buddy is a cartoony parody of Fourarms from the cartoon "Super Alien Hero Buddy Adventures". At the end of "Super Alien Hero Buddy Adventures", Grandpa Max buys Ben an action figure of Handy Buddy. Handy Buddy is voiced by Steve Blum and speaks with a Scottish accent for no apparent reason, which Ben points out when complaining about the parody.
[edit] Howell Wayneright
Howell Wayneright is obsessed with finding proof of alien life, so when he finds Grey Matter at a water park, he sees his ticket to fame. He inadvertently gives this ticket up when he turns Grey Matter over to The Organization, thinking that they'll help him spread the word. Instead, they decide to dissect Grey Matter and dispose of Howell. Howell, however, possesses enough of a conscience to find the dissection distasteful, and rescues Grey Matter as a result. When Grey Matter reverts back to human form while Howell isn't looking, he decides to give up chasing aliens. Howell appears in the episode "A Small Problem". Larry Cedar voices Howell.
[edit] Joan Maplewood
Joan Maplewood is Todd Maplewood's mother that appeared in "Under Wraps". Max took Ben and Gwen to their farm to learn about hard work. Joan is voiced by Kath Soucie.
[edit] JT and Cash
JT and Cash are bullies from And Then There Were 10. JT is short and wears glasses, and voiced by Adam Wylie. Cash is taller with darkened skin, and is voiced by Dee Bradley Baker. They return in "The Unnaturals" as members of Ben's local Little League team, having gotten in as a result of four other members getting chicken pox. In both of their appearances, they give Ben a wedgie and suspend him from something (first a tree branch, then a fence post) only to experience a similar fate at the hands of XLR8. They were briefly replaced by robots in their second appearance, but the robots were quickly destroyed by Ben as Diamondhead (whose glee at destroying the robot doubles was quite clear). Cash received credit for helping to save the President from being replaced by a robot, much to Ben's dismay, though he gets his revenge anyway.
[edit] Mayor of Sparksville
When Ben, Gwen, and Max first arrive at Sparksville in "Tourist Trap", they meet the mayor of the town. The mayor speaks in a monotone voice and never seems to get excited or frightened, even as toothpicks the size of javelins are being launched into the ground around him. He also is not surprised at all by the sudden prescence of Upgrade. The mayor matter of factly recognizes the destruction of his town as being the Megawhatt's doing, though Ben was responsible for a good portion of it. The mayor seems to have extensive experience with the Megawhatts and how they think. About the only thing he didn't know about them is what they really were; he dismissed the explantion of their being aliens as "just plain kooky talk", despite his explanations being equally implasible. After Ben traps the multiple Megawhatts in the world's biggest goldfish bowl, the mayor thanks the three for saving his town. The Mayor is voiced by Dwight Schultz.
[edit] Mr. Jingles
The holiday-obsessed owner of a Christmas-based theme park in Death Valley, Mr. Jingle uses the magic of the Jingulator machine to turn the park into a perpetually snowy Christmas village where time moves very slowly and turn all the children into worker elves.
When Ben and his family arrived at his park, he mistakes Max for Santa Claus and kidnaps him, hoping to make his dream of having Santa deliver presents to children a reality. When it came to getting Ben and Gwen to join his staff, he sent Nutcracker soldiers and slithering snowmen. The Nutcracker soldiers and snowmen also served as Mr. Jingle's foot soldiers alongside the giant teddy bears and living toys.
After Ben destroyed his Jingulator as Grey Matter, he was shown the error of his ways. Everyone was restored to normal after Max and Gwen used a sleigh pulled by Stinkfly to deliver the gifts he made. In the process, the theme park was returned to normal and the effects of his curse reversed, making it seem like it had never happened (though everyone involved still retained memories of these events). A Walt Disney-styled statue commemorating him is seen within the town after the curse is broken. On its base is an inscription quoting what Grandpa Max had told him about the true meaning of Christmas. He is likely decesed as Elsgood was a child before the curse was broken but an old man after and Mr. Jingles was fairly old likely only alive because of the curse freezing time within the confines of his village. He is voiced by Richard Doyle.
[edit] The President
The President of the United States appeared in "The Unnaturals", where "The Squires" and the Forever Knights tried to replace him with a robot. When Ben as Fourarms defeated the Squires Coach robot and the Omnitrix timed out, the robot coach was about to attack the President but Ben saved him and destroyed the robot for good. The President mistakes Ben for Cash, one of the bullies that picks on him, for saving his life because Ben took Cash's place in the last game. It should be noted that this is a fictional president, and not a caricature of the current one.
[edit] Todd Maplewood
Todd is a boy Ben and Gwen met in "Under Wraps" at a farm where they needed to learn the values of hard work. He is voiced by Rob Pinkston.
[edit] Tim Dean
Tim Dean, from "Super Alien Hero Buddy Adventures", is the writer of the cartoon, "Super Alien Hero Buddy Adventures", a cartoony parody of Ben's alien forms. Ben, angry at the writer for ripping off his aliens, initially believes Dean is the one causing all the weird things that were happening at the theme park, Planetary Studios. Ben later discovers it's Kane North, the twin brother of Abel North causing the trouble, who wanted revenge because Dean stole his show idea from Kane. Tim Dean is voiced by Josh Keaton.
[edit] Vance Vetteroy
Vance Vetteroy is the weather man that created S.A.M. in "Monster Weather". He ends up causing S.A.M. to go haywire when he uses it to make a rainstorm occur, only for lightning to strike S.A.M. and drive it crazy. He later tries to smash S.A.M.'s CPU with a pipe while it's incapacitated to make up for what he's done, only to be captured by his own creation. He is voiced by Mark Thompson.
