There are multiple references which connect the original game of Command & Conquer and Command & Conquer Renegade. Below are some of these:

- One of the most obvious references is Havoc’s personality which is highly based off the GDI Commando, whose running phrases like “Real tough guy”, “That was left handed’”, or “I got a present for ya’” are those of the original Command & Conquer.
- In the beginning of the second mission, where Havoc has taken a hovercraft to go help a GDI base that is under attack, the overhead footage of the area shown on the GDI ship's monitor is represented with graphics from the original Command & Conquer.
- Several Nod propaganda images shown on a prison camp in one of the campaign missions are in fact taken from scenes of FMV cutscenes from the original Command & Conquer. They include shots of Bialystok taken from a plane, a GDI gunboat, a Nod Flame Tank destroying an urban area, General Mark Sheppard during a mission-briefing, the Ion Cannon (during its capture by Nod net-runners), and the Temple of Nod, among others.
- A room during the infiltration of the Temple of Nod contains three seats with computer panels reminiscent to the Nod ending cutscene of the net-runners. They are placed in the same position of the net-runners’ seats and have the same model (though they are hardly recognizable). Furthermore, when Kane gives the order to the net-runners to begin with the hacking of the GDI global database, the wall behind him opens in two halves revealing the mentioned room. On closer inspection, the wall in front of the chairs appears to have a boundary line; possibly a reference to the same wall.
- There is a propaganda studio complete with green background in one of the rooms of the Temple of Nod, the same that appeared in a cutscene from Tiberian Dawn.
- There are several monitor screens inside Nod structures that show images from the cutscenes of the original game (most notably in the Hand of Nod). Some of them include a GDI base under Nod attack (with the word UNITY on it), an Obelisk of Light firing at a group of Humvees (with the word PEACE on it), and temple being captured by Nod (with the word BROTHERHOOD on it).
- More FMV screenshots can be seen around the hallways of the Hand of Nod.
- Although they never made it into the final cut of the game, the Recon Bikes made a brief appearance during a village assault.
- Seth, the second in command of the Brotherhood of Nod, makes a cameo in the last mission. His corpse is suspended inside a strange glass tube (Kane explains to the player that “this is what happens when you circumvent his authority”). Ironically enough, the room on the next is a messy office with broken stuff and an axe is struck into a monitor. This can imply that Kane went further than putting Seth's body into a tube, but also proceeded to crippling his office.
- Seth’s fate in Renegade, being noted earlier, is homage to his attempt to usurp leadership of Nod in the original game, when he brought the player to a secret plot to attack America. He was soon found out of course and shot once through the head by Kane. This also lends to the theory that the body in the capsule is Seth because the bloodstain is still there.
- The science lab which appears in the mission “All brains, no brawn” has the same model of the tri-dome shaped research facility (which appears in a few missions of the original game and serves as both a research center and a prison facility). For instance, the mentioned facility is in a close location to a prison where the mission starts, making the reference stronger.
- The background music when Havoc confronts Raveshaw in his mutated form is a remix of the “Act on Instinct” music track.
- The background music of the mission "Reunion" is a remix of the “Canyon Chase” music track (notice: this track is only played when a player loads a saved game in the same mission; otherwise the music track played is a different one).
- The background music that plays during the “Stowaway” mission is a remix of the “Industrial” music track with a darker tone.
- The background music played on the mission “Stomping on holy ground” is actually a remix of the “No Mercy” music track (this track is also played during the Multiplayer Practice).
- The background music listed as "Sakura Dog Fight" is a remix of the "Warfare" music track.
- The background music listed as "I Got a Present for you" is a remix of the "Just do It Up" music track.
- The background music for the ending credits is a remix of the "We will Stop them Now" music track.

- The strange museum inside the Temple of Nod is possibly based on the museum that appears briefly during the credits at the end of the original game. Also, the musem contains portraits of footage from FMV cutscenes shown in Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2.
- The laser fence surrounding the Temple of Nod in the second to last mission are more likely based on the laser fences that appear in a Nod base cutscene shown during the ending credits in the original Command & Conquer.
- Most missions are the same as the ones from the original game. These include objectives such as destroying SAM sites and disabling Turrets so that Gunboats can make an approach to the shores.
- The background music that is played on the mission “Tomorrow’s technology today” is the Tiberian Sun theme song.
- In the ending cinematic of the GDI and Nod campaign there is a depiction of the interior of a lab with the camera getting close to (what is supposed to be) a liquid-tiberium-filled pool. This appears to be the same pool of tiberium that appears in the Temple of Nod from Renegade; however, this one is shown on a tearing of an underground level.
- In the Temple of Nod there are pantings of Soviet Apocolapse Tanks, used in Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2.
