At Martin Place the track centres are very wide, and no slews are required to make room for either the platform or the turnback siding, which are in any case all in tunnel. The advantage of a centre turnback, is that a train can enter or leave the turnback without blocking the opposite track. Compare this with the less satisfactory arrangement at East Hills.
